Professor Accused Of Staging Hate Crime

Police are accusing a California college professor of vandalizing her own car, then reporting it as a hate crime.

The car, in a Claremont College parking lot near Los Angeles, had slashed tires and had been painted with racist and sexist words.

Police said the owner, visiting psychology professor Kerri Dunn, is the culprit. Lt. Paul Cooper said two witnesses saw Dunn drive into the lot with the graffiti already on the car, then get out and slash the tires.

Dunn had said it happened while she was speaking at a forum on racism. The incident prompted campuswide rallies and the offer of a reward.

Dunn's lawyer said the accusation has damaged her reputation and emotional health. Claremont McKenna College's president said Dunn is an excellent teacher.

Police are forwarding their findings to the district attorney.

I personally have known two psychologists as friends in my life. Both were nuttier than fruitcakes. I don't know why people like that are drawn to that profession.

I tried to find the earlier thread to no avail.

Many FReepers thought the prof did it herself, now there are witnesses!

Unless the witnesses are part of the plot...(Phillip K. Dick paranoia seting in...)

Because they hope to find solutions or solace in studying the problems with their own mind. Study it long enough, it's only natural they become advisors to others.

"I don't know why people like that are drawn to that profession."

It is my long held belief that they are trying to figure out what is wrong with them.

I wonder what she expected to gain from this? Notoriety?

The incident prompted campuswide rallies ....

Oh, the gullible minions of the Kingdom of Stupidity are so predictable--and amusing.

Think of the young Conservatives incidents like this breed. I would be pretty mad if I went marching for "equal justice", to find the person involved was playing on my emotions and taking advantage of hate crime laws.

My Mom always said that people with emotional problems often become psychologists and psychiatrists so they can figure out what was wrong with them. My husband had mental illness so I met plenty of proof she was right.

Majority? How about overwhelming and massive majority. Like 99-1.

I heard on local radio yesterday that even though she stands accused of vandalizing her own car, the college is going ahead with plans to pay for the damage and a rental car.

Well, we can't have the victim of a hate crime thumbing a ride, can we?

They're not all bad, but like every other field, the real moonbats seem to be drawn to academia.

I don't know why people like that are drawn to that profession.

That's easy. They go into psychology to try to figure out what's wrong with themselves. I have had the same observation: every psych major I knew was a mess.

I forget what book I read it in but the following quote has always stuck in my mind:

"Psychology is the science of creating words for things that don't exist."

Seems that way. Tawana Brawley?

There was a case near where I work in which a kid took a marker and drew a line through a "rainbow flag" symbol on a sign belonging to a UU church with a gay pastor. This heinous act was witnessed by a motorist, the perp aprehended, and he confessed. The minister was shocked and hurt and urged the courts to give the maximum penalty, but the kid got a hefty dose of community service instead.

So this case was not hoaxed up, but I think most others are, especially extreme cases. It's good media.

This sort of thing is mentioned in Alinsky's Rules For Radicals. He describes how his office was burglarized, and the ONLY thing taken was a folder of data proving beyond doubt that some corporation he was dealing with committed serious crimes. Reading between the lines, I got the impression that there was no folder and no burglary- yet the press he got was devastating to the corporation. The press repeated Alinsky's allegations over and over (including the "burglary" story and who else but minions of the corporation did the break-in), and Alinsky did not ever have to offer proof since the folder had been burglarized! All for the cost of a broken windowpane!
