UK-based Islamists disagree on Al-Qaeda's Madrid attack claim

Umar Bakri, leader of the Al-Muhajiroun Organization in London, announced that Al-Qa'idah's claim of responsibility for Madrid attacks is correct. He noted that Italy could be the next target.

On the other hand, Islamist Abu-Hamzah al-Misri [head of the London-based Supporters of Al-Shari'ah Organization] denied that Al-Qa'idah Organization had any connection with the attacks. In remarks following Friday prayers in London, he said that it is illogical for the organization to carry out an attack against Spanish civilians who opposed war on Iraq.

The Spanish are now paying for all those siestas during history class, and the rest of the Europeans are about to learn that, as George Santayana observed, if you flunk history you have to go through the whole mess again. It's much easier in the long run to do your homework and pay attention. But how can you expect these people to remember the past? They can't even remember what Santayana said about it.

So why hasn't the English police detained this Omar Bakri? At least kidnap him and send him to Gitmo!

"George Santayana observed, if you flunk history you have to go through the whole mess again."

Nice paraphrasing,I'm sick of hearing that quote the old way.

Santayana or sayonara.

He noted that Italy could be the next target.

The Islamists might be tempted to attack Sicily, which used to be a Moorish possession. This would be a bad idea. They might get a response from a certain organization which, legend has it, got its start as the resistance movement against the Moorish occupation

Al-Muhajiroun declaration The Al-Muhajiroun leadership would like to state that our Pakistan branch is no longer part of Al-Muhajiroun but has in fact become independent from the main body. The ex-members of Al-Muhajiroun in Pakistan will continue to function, however as an independent body having its own name and its own Ameer and having nothing to do with Al-Muhajiroun world-wide, following their resignations from the Jamma'. We pray that Allah (SWT) gives them all the success in this life and in the hereafter and helps them achieve all their Islamic goals.

On behalf of the Leadership Committee of Al-Muhajiroun Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad

Well this isn't good.

I was thinking the same thing. Personally I would like to see some Sicillian action in the WOT. Their, um, methods, aren't shackled by "public opinion". I say let 'em loose.

First they can "take care" of Omar Bakari and his ilk. It's strange how these guys claim to have inside info, but yet are allowed to make public statements like this. Hey Omar what else do you know?

Yes, sometimes the contemporary vernacular can renew the punch of a tired cliche.

When the mafia dons fell (I'm talking Teflon Don and his heirarchy), they said now that you got rid of us, you'll have to take on the Colombians and other savages of the world, those who have no code of honor. The links between Al Queada and the Colombians has been well documented. Just food for thought.

Books on Calogero and Luciano, during WWII, good reading for people interested in the conspiracy/underworld connections to the fighting in WWII.
