A distant cousin of White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card was charged with working for the Iraqi Intelligence Servise, after Card turned turned her in to the FBI for contacting him in the weeks before the war, allegedly on behalf of Saddam Hussein's regieme.
[snip](and waaaayyyy down the article)
Lindauer is a one time journalist and press aide to four Democrat members of Congress.

KEYWORDS: demonazis; lindauer; lyingliberals; spinmachine; spying
Yes, you read it right. The Tennessean, that bastion of "balanced" news coverage puts the story of a US Citizen caught spying for Iraq before and during a war on page 10A and gives it the above title. Not until 3/4 of the way down the article does it mention that the spy is actually a Democrat and has worked for several prominent Democrats.

To me, the thing that should become the story here is that, in spite of her stridently and obvious pro-Islamist retoric, she was repeatedly hired by left wing legislators.

But that would require OBJECTIVE JOURNALISM. Something the left wing liberal media has abandoned all pretense of years ago when they decided to step and fetch for Johnson.

Your paper wouldn't be owned by Gannett would it? We get this kind of stuff all the time in the Louisville "Communist" Journal.

This mornings Milwaukee Journal Sentinel blared the headline about Card and NEVER mentioned the DemocRAT ties in the article. Good thing I read about this yesterday here on FR.

John Kerry is a 12th cousin of George W. Bush.

I think this is ok, because the news story is that this kook contacted her distant cousin, Andrew Card, who turned her in.
I had a problem with reports yesterday that disclosed her relationship with Card without describing what he did in this investigation.
I do think that this relationship is more important than her working for Fox or the Seattle PI or Carol Moseley-Braun, because she chose to contact Card as part of her plot.
I would like to see a statement from the politicians whom she worked for.

The problem was with the headline meant as a slam on Bush while they seriously downplayed the fact that she was a DemocRat and worke in the offices of several DemocRats.

We're all distant cousins of each other. I read years ago that everyone is related to each other at around the 53rd cousin removed level.

Apparently the article is not on line or you would have linked to it, but the lead paragraph does tell the story about Andrew Card. I agree with you about the headline, although often space is a legitimate consideration. For that reason I personally care more about lead paragraphs and accompanying photos and their captions.
Surprisingly, the Chicago Tribune handled it very well, and the way that you would have liked your paper to (probably because ex-Sen. Braun is from Illinois):
Headline: "Connected woman held as Iraqi agent."
Story: "BALTIMORE - A woman who briefly worked as an aide to former Sen. Carol Moseley Braun was arrested at her suburban Washington home Thursday on charges of acting as an agent of the Iraqi intelligence agency and ploting to help resistance groups loyal to Saddam Hussein.
"Susan Lindauer, 40, who had claimed to be a target of covert surveillance and death threats, was released to a halfway house with orders from a magistrate judge in U.S. District Court in Baltimore to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
"A white House spokesman said Thursday ngiht that Chief of Staff Andrew Card has cooperated with authorities investigating Lindauer, including reporting that his distant cousin made attempts to contact him in recent years.
"White House spokesman Trent Duffy said Card does not recall seeing or talking tro her since presidential inaugural events in 2001."
...
This Tribune article doesn't say that she worked for several Democrats at the top of the article (it finally shows up in paragraph 15 out of 18 paragraphs).

Trust the Nashville fishwrapper not to mention Lindauer was actually an aid to Carole Moseley Brown among other prominent Dimocrats.
Lindauer probably worked for "Leaky" Leahy at some point!
