25% is Passing Grade for Texas Schools?
Tuesday, March 09 @ 13:25:04
TASS - TAKS - and a sip of TEA

One year ago, on March 7, 2003, the senior editorial writer of EducationNews.org George Scott wrote about the then soon-to-be-implemented T A K S tests in his series on "The academic corruption of the Texas accountability system" in public education.

Back in 2003, George Scott stated...

....."Such close scrutiny of TAAS signals clear ramifications for the “harder” TAKS. To the degree that the new TAKS tests contain questions that approach an honest measurement of academic grade level, Texas students are poised to fail despite the asserted miracle. "

....."Without intense scrutiny and public exposure, the TAAS “mix and match elementary, middle and high school questions” strategy will continue if passing rates are to improve. Otherwise, academically corrupt passing standards of 50% or below will be institutionalized."

TODAY.....

Texas schools only need to have a 25% passing to retain their ranking! The scam continues...

Come on, these TX teachers are under such pressure! How can we ask these educators belonging to the most powerful union in the US to develop new lesson plans that would actually allow their students to learn? They don't know how and don't want you to know either.

Schools are just like every other firm, they are just trying to survive.
No matter what happens states keep funding them, is it any surprise that quality is suspect??
If your boss didn't care how you did your job, most of you would not produce a high quality product.

You haven't got the faintest of what you're talking about. It's much more difficult to make a meaningful comment that to come up with a pointless-drivel comment like the above. You don't know anything about Texas teachers, out-of-stater, and your comments prove it.
