The jobs at the AutoAlliance Inc. plant south of Detroit will be filled in part by Ford workers displaced by last weeks closure of a pickup plant in Edison, N.J., as part of the company's cost-cutting efforts.

This is actually good news. Will this (hopefully) represent a net gain in Ford employment in lieu of the other lay offs and closings?

When Nissan opened it's plant in Canton, MS they hired about 4,200 people directly. Feeder plants in the area hired another 20,000. These are NEW jobs.

Why are the building Ford Mustangs when they could be building high speed trains that nobody wants?

Oh, no, sir. I just finished expanding their central utilities plant (from eight to twelve 2700 ton chillers, and 25,000 to 35,000 CFM of air at 105 psi). The place is huge. Hundreds of trucks go in and out every day.

Hiring who? Members of former UAW members or ONLY UAW members? That's what happened in Tennessee with Saturn in Spring Hill. What a joke.

I guess you didn't read the article.
The Mustang is now being manufactured by "AutoAlliance Inc."
And I bet you thought that Mazda was a "competitor" of Ford's.
Boy, the global automotive cartel sure has the wool pulled over YOUR eyes!

There's no such thing as an "American" car company anymore.
They're all transnationals, cooperating in an incestuous global cartel.
And the only "competition" that the cartel engages in is pitting one nation against another.
DON'T expect the savings to be passed along to consumers. It ain't gonna happen.

You simply don't understand. High speed trains and light rail are the wave of the future ! Never mind that they require huge taxpayer subsidies to operate !

If they're a cartel, why do they have so much trouble making money? A cartel has no trouble making a profit because they don't compete on price. Maybe you don't understand what a cartel is.
