Motion To Waive CBA Cantwell Amdt. No. 2617; Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act
On the Motion
02/26/2004
Senate Roll Call No. 18
108th Congress, 2nd Session
Rejected: 58-39 (see complete tally)
By 58 yeas to 39 nays (Vote No. 18), three-fifths of those Senators duly chosen and sworn, not having voted in the affirmative, Senate rejected the motion to waive section 302(f) of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974, with respect to Cantwell Amendment No. 2617, to extend and expand the Temporary Extended Unemployment Compensation Act of 2002. Subsequently, the point of order that the amendment was in violation of section 302(f) of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974, was sustained, and the amendment thus falls.

The Republicans should sponsor the bill making tax cuts permanent and attached this to it.
Zap this bunch from both ends. They hate tax cuts as much as they hate President Bush.

The Republicans should sponsor the bill making tax cuts permanent and attached this to it. That's a great tactic. When Kerry votes against it the TV Ad voiceover will say:
"This year John Kerry voted to increase your taxes by $2000."

Let's hear about "two Americas"
Those who have unemployment benefits, and those who don't.
They better shut their cakehole about the ecomony and jobs if they plan on boning the republic on unemployment benefits.
Is this how they plan to handle social security?

and..... voted against unemployment benefits...
Zap him from both ends!

If I understand this correctly, the measure needed a 3/5 majority in order to pass, i.e., it needed 60 votes. The vote was 58 yea/ 39 nay. Kerry, Edwards & Campbell (Colorado) didn't vote. So the measure fell because of Kerry & Edwards. If they had voted in the affirmative, the measure to extend & expand the unemployment benefits would have been approved. This is hugh!

I can see Kerry's next campaign ad. "Bush absent in 100% of senate votes."
To: elli1
Kerry and Edwards really showed how much they cared about out of work people.

Re:
"Bush absent in 100% of senate votes." Yep, and he didn't vote once in the House either!

That's it. Bush can no longer serve in either house of Congress.....
To: areafiftyone
A few weeks back Kerry complained that President Bush was at the Daytona 500 on a Saturday.
Kerry said Bush should have been working on the economy.....jobs, jobs, jobs...
All this from Kerry who has a NO SHOW job with the Government.
Anyone who missed as mush work as Kerry would have been fired long ago.
The Senate should immediately dock his pay for the year.
It appears that Kerry goes to the offense where he believes he has a vulnerability...military...wealth...trade...work habit.
With no income, the press should ask Kerry how he will repay his house mortgage. It is just as much a valid question for the mortgage company.
