Hillary: Bush Should Return to Terrorism Policies of the 1990s

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton said this week that America would be safer if the Bush administration followed the path of previous administrations and relied on international cooperation to fight terrorism, which, she insisted, had foiled attacks on U.S. targets during the 1990s.

"Abandonment of alliances can harm our security. And I think we're beginning to understand that," she told the Brookings Institution on Wednesday.

The top Democrat said that America's "detachment" from the world, caused by President Bush's go-it-alone strategy, had undermined the war on terrorism.

"We need all kinds of collaboration. And, unfortunately, our current policy does not focus on such collaboration with the vigor it deserves," she warned.

"America's detachment from the world began well before September 11," Clinton complained, saying the Bush administration "withdrew from the playing field in the Middle East."

"We retreated from the world when we abandoned the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty process, without even attempting to create some kind of consensus that would enable that process to continue," she continued.

"When we withdrew from the ABM Treaty, buried the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, [we] abandoned the effort to give teeth to the Biological Weapons Treaty," said Clinton. "That sequence of diplomatic retrenchments sent a clear message: We're going it alone, whether you like it or not."

The former first lady said a multinational approach during her husband's administration helped keep the U.S. safe from terrorist attack.

"Cooperative international efforts did help prevent terrorist attacks before 9/11; prevented terrorists from blowing up airliners; attacking major targets during the millennium and I think there are many other examples that all of you know we could point to."

She is a fool and a liar.We are cooperating with other countries..There were many attacks in the 90s.Law enforcement alone is not going to deter terrorists.

To let Hillary, and that festering herpes sore she's married to, tell it, nothing ever went wrong in the world, except at the hands of the VRWC.

I am sooooo thankful that GWB did NOT follow the terrorism policies of the Clinton administration.

As we all learned on 9/11 and numerous times before that terrible day, the Clinton policies were absolute failures.

For peace. For freedom. For victory. Bush in '04.

Oh Yeah, bring back the policies of the 90s.

uhhh Hitlary.. the WTC towers finally got knocked down after the first attempt in the 90s fizzled with only some casualties and damage(while clintonigula diddled, the enemies of our nation became stronger and more emboldened)...and you want to go back and do it again?

What the heck are you smoking ? crack?

Finally! Now, I understand why Middle East terrorist groups hate the USA. It's all about global warming. Who knew?

We should return to the terrorism policies of the 90's? There must not have been any family or survivors from the USS Cole in the audience. How else can we explain why Senator Clinton survived to bombast another day?

"Law enforcement alone is not going to deter terrorists."

Some one needs to tell John F'n Kerry that. He thinks terrorism is overhyped and that it's a police/law enforcement matter.

...which, she insisted, had foiled attacks on U.S. targets during the 1990s.

And a damn fine job the Clintons did too. Let's see, we had the first WTC attack, the attack on the USS Cole, the African Embassies bombing, Waco, Elian Gonzalaz, Bin Laden not captured, etc., etc.

I'd say if the Clintons were judged on how many Americans they killed, I'd give them a two thumbs-up!

>Hillary: Bush Should Return to Terrorism Policies of the 1990s

Didn't we pretend
back then that terrorists were
only "criminals?"

And this policy
lead pretty directly to
an awful climax

in New York City,
didn't it? Is Hillary
really this stupid?!

Terror fighting policies of the 90s is one of the key things that led to 9/11.

Hillary is working for the enemy.

Go it alone, Doug from Upland's butt. We had international support except for some like the Krauts, Ruskies, and cheese eating surrender monkeys. Bush will never ask their permission to defend this nation.

Isn't the terrorist policys of the 90's to let terrorists blow up and kill whoever they wanted to and that we would only retaliate when an BJ giving interns' testimony before a grand jury had to be knocked off of page 1? Looks like Bush will have a problem with that one.
