A spokesman for Dr. Dean, Jay Carson, said Mr. McEntee's attacks on Dr. Dean could endanger the party's chances of defeating Mr. Bush. "All Democrats have to be united to win this election," he said. "This kind of personal attack is not going to help us beat George W. Bush."

Carson is absolutely right. The Deaniacs are going to hit the roof when they find out about this union guy denigrating the good name of their god. They're going to interpret it as proof that the Democratic Establishment conspired to derail Dean's candidacy, and they're going to retaliate by either voting for Nader or even Bush himself, just to spite the DNC and its water-carrier, John Kerry.

This could, just maybe, be enough to hand us the win in November.

...even Bush himself

In fact, according to Nader, 38% of his votes would have gone to Bush in '00 if Nader weren't running.
