Planned Parenthood

The most recent annual report from Planned Parenthood (PP) indicates that both profits for the organization and the number of abortions they perform are on the rise - despite the fact that the number of abortions performed nationwide has been slowly but steadily declining over the past several years. The annual report for 2002-2003 shows that in 2002, the number of abortions PP performed increased by 6.7% over the amount performed in 2001.

At the same time that the number of surgical abortions Planned Parenthood does each year is increasing, the number of Abortifacient Emergency Contraceptive Pills they have distributed has also increased. From 2000-2002, the number of Abortifacient Pills distributed by Planned Parenthood increased by over 481%. While the number of surgical and chemical abortions performed by Planned Parenthood have been increasing dramatically (in spite of a nationwide drop in the number of abortions) the number of adoption referrals decreased by almost 22% from 2000-2001. Planned Parenthood did 115 abortions for each adoption referral it made.
