[history]
February 17, 2004 -- ALBANY - Former President Bill Clinton said yesterday he is not touting retired Gen. Wesley Clark for the No. 2 spot on a ticket with Sen. John Kerry. Clinton, denying a report in yesterday's Post, said he is staying clear of having any influence on the selection of a Democratic vice-presidential candidate. "It is a deeply personal decision who you pick as your running mate," Clinton told The Post.

"I have not taken sides with regard to any of the candidates for president. I like Wes Clark, but it would be disloyal of me to favor any individual when so many have been helpful to me," Clinton added. Then why did he say just a few months ago that Wesley Clark and Hillary were the two superstars of the Democratic Party?

I'm certain both articles are valid. Dicker has sources and is a careful guy. In this case, he's dealing with the subject of Clinton - the reprobate who put new meaning to the question, "Are you going to believe me or your lyin' eyes?"

You weren't supposed to remember that. As I've said before about the media, one of the most frustrating things about them is their lack of perspective, and their inability to compare what public figures say now to what they've said in the past. Heck, if I can remember Clinton saying that, I think the New York Post, which is this city's conservative paper, should be able to keep track of that.
