Teresa Heinz Kerry: Financier of the Radical Left
Front Page Magazine ^ | 2-13-04 | Ben Johnson

Posted on 02/13/2004 6:10:03 AM PST by lisaann8

With Matt Drudge’s recent revelation that John Kerry is as faithful to his second wife as he was to his old Vietnam “brothers,” the senator’s presidential campaign may depend more than ever on the actions of his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry. While the mainstream media has thus far overlooked the alleged infidelity, media outlets have also overlooked a far more important story: The former Mrs. John Heinz is also in bed – financially – with the radical Left.

Teresa Heinz Kerry has financed the secretive Tides Foundation to the tune of more than $4 million over the years. The Tides Foundation, a “charity” established in 1976 by antiwar leftist activist Drummond Pike, distributes millions of dollars in grants every year to political organizations advocating far-Left causes. The Tides Foundation and its closely allied Tides Center, which was spun off from the Foundation in 1996 but run by Drummond Pike, distributed nearly $66 million in grants in 2002 alone. In all, Tides has distributed more than $300 million for the Left. These funds went to rabid antiwar demonstrators, anti-trade demonstrators, domestic Islamist organizations, pro-terrorists legal groups, environmentalists, abortion partisans, extremist homosexual activists and open borders advocates.

During the years 1995-2001, the Howard Heinz Endowment, which Heinz Kerry chairs, gave Tides more than $4.3 million. The combined Heinz Endowments (composed of the Howard Heinz Endowment and the Vira I. Heinz Endowment) donated $1.6 million to establish the Tides Center for Western Pennsylvania, a Pittsburgh office of the San Francisco-based Tides Center. Since that time, the local branch has tirelessly pushed an anti-business agenda in the name of “preserving the environment.” However, it is the Tides Foundation’s national organization whose connections are most disconcerting.

Oh, Mrs. Ketchup supports left wing fascists. How surprising. Maybe she can stick swastikas on her pickle jars and get a new advertising slogan.

Senator Heinz of Pennsylvania was killed in a plane crash in the early 1990's. He was a good man I met him on one occasion. Teresa Heinz seemed to have gone off the deep end after the death of her husband and all that wealth...

Amazing! Nothing for the homeless, health care, education, ect. It all went for destructive purposes to fund and advance petty tyrants.

Republicans need to pick out the most offensive groups - offensive to mainstream democrats (not just republicans) and start shoving this story down the media's throat.

This can't be linked to Kerry.
It's not his money, and I doubt he contributed his $10.00 a week allowance.
The most he's ever contributed to a charity in one year is around $135.00.

Teresa Heinz Kerry will play a potent role in saving her second husband’s presidential campaign now – as Hillary Clinton did in 1992, and again during her husband’s impeachment. Like Hillary, in return for her service, Heinz may demand a place at the table for her pet causes. Consider yourself warned.
Uh . . . I think the position of patron saintess of the left is taken. Been there, done that.

We now understand that infidelity is, to journalists, a resume enhancement --just like deceitfully pledging to preserve "the Constitution," and meaning not limited government but the arbitrary enforcement of the leftist concensus of pseudo-objective Walter Cronkite journalism.

Why Broadcast Journalism is
Unnecessary and Illegitimate

I have not met him, but here in western PA most everyone knew of him and knew him to be a good and honest, and, if memory serves me, fairly conservative man who was being approached to run for some republican office before his untimely death (1991?). She really did take a plunge into the great liberal abyss.

"This can't be linked to Kerry."

It illustrates the thoughts and actions of the people close to him. It fits in with his own thoughts and actions also.

Yes - He was a conservative, decent and honest. Not to mention very wealthy so that he did not have to grovel for PAC money. He would wonder what the hell his wife is doing today.

I remember once in a "town hall" discussion someone asked him how he could have voted against a bill called "Helping single moms raises children to care for the environment" or some such liberal feel good program. He looked right at the main and said "That bill was the worst piece of junk I ever saw. I am glad I voted it down. It was a waste of taxpayer money and here is why..." The guy slunk down into his seat and didn't say a word. Senator Heinz was a class act and was never afraid to defend his principles or votes (unlike the man who Mrs. Heinz married).

I would hazard a guess that Teresa, who was happily married to Senator Heinz, is probably not a congenital leftist. It's merely a question of having moved in leftist social circles for the past decade. Everyone around her no doubt gives or works with Planned Parenthood, the Sierra Club, and similar organizations. She was probably persuaded to give by Kerry, who DOES have longstanding connections with the extreme antiwar left.

She's his wife. The future potential First Lady. That's a close link.
