Ping. Did you see this?

Mansoor said that 'special teams' were on the ground in Pakistan securing their nuclear facilities...or, something close to that.

I saw him too, I allways listen to Ijaz because he's allways several steps ahead of the game.

I think there is real reason for concern over "dirty bombs". Terrorists know they have to get rid of them before they're caught with them. The prefered method of getting rid of them will be using them.

I think Mansoor has established his credibility with me.
I wished Britt would have gone back to him after the break!

For the Newbies, Mansoor says he was heavily involved with this:

Sounds like hype.

Radiological device = chemical explosives spread some sort of radioactive powder around. The radioactive energy would generally come from radioactive sources used in medicine and industry.

"Dirty bomb" = an incomplete chain reaction in weapons grade fissionable material of some sort instantly cooks the relatively inert fissionables into an awful witches' brew of highly radioactive, short-half life, isotopes while releasing enough energy to "powder" and spread them around a moderately wide area.

There might be some xSoviet nukes around whose fissionables were cooked 1989-1991 and so could serve as "dirty bombs", but none would be "suitcase" nukes which require lots of expensive maintenance as well as the finest grade of xSoviet fissionables.

IMO this is just the press being clueless, and careless with terminology. I remember one of them in 1991 labeling as a tank what was really a Saudi street sweeper truck used to clean foreign objects off airfield runways.

More of Mansoor and his unimpeachable sources.

Saudi is widely reported as a recipient. Who else, Syria, Egypt?

"He seemed to confirm that the terrorist have 'dirty bombs' and are anxious to use them......."

Do most people really know what a "dirty bomb" is? Basically, a dirty bomb is a conventional bomb that spreads radioactive contamination (RC) --- basically it creates a mess. Does the RC kill you? Not really, unless you get a real face full, or if you absorb stuff like radioactive iodine, cesium, etc.

Basically, a "dirty bomb" just messes you over and scares people. I am more afraid of nerve gas and other chemical and biological nasties!
