my own personal opinion is that it is OK for repubs to criticize repub leaders and big government programs except during an election year. the campaign has started, and criticisms now will only help the dems. once we win the election, we can start criticizing the policies again.

So, we're allowed to complain about GOP big-government policies, except during the one time every four years that they're actually... accountable to us, their employers?

Man, I would sure like to have a job where my supervisors could complain and fume at me all year long about my waste, fraud, mal-investment, and abject incompetence -- except during my annual performance review, at which time they'd be allowed to tell my employer nothing bad about me whatsoever!! Nice work, if you can get it!

Right. The only way to convince the fence sitters is to show them that we support our man no matter what. Show them that the candidate is more important than the policy. Give 'em a clear difference between a Republicans and a Democrats.

... once we win the election, we can start criticizing the policies again.

Obviously when he has no elections to face he will be far more compliant with the concerns of his 'base.'

So we only hold them accountable at the times when we don't actually have the means (i.e. voting) to hold them accountable?
