GONAIVES, Haiti (AP) -- Police reinforcements fought bloody battles with gunmen as they tried to retake Haiti's fourth-largest city from rebels who seized it two days earlier in a challenge to President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.

At least three police were killed Saturday, and crowds mutilated the corpses. One body was dragged through the street as a man swung at it with a machete. A woman cut off the officer's ear.

Another policeman was lynched and stripped to his shorts, and residents dropped a large rock on his corpse.

Which is what leads me to believe these reports are in error - since, you're correct, this was all fixed under Clinton. In reality, I'm sure things are just fine down there, especially with the esteemed Mr. Aristide in charge. I'm planning my long weekend in Port Au Prince now.

Another of Clintons foreign policy successes.

Don't forget, Carter aided and abetted in this foreign policy gem just like he did in North Korea.

And he went back, in April 2003, to check on the continued success of his work there.

Don't forget, Carter...

Oh, IIRC, Haiti is doubly or even triply Carter's failure. His own adminstration didn't do Haiti any favors, he
interfered with Bush I, and he "helped" Clinton.

Add Zimbabwe to the "Don't forget" list.

Must be time for us to send another BILLION dollars.

Sounds like a golden oppotunity for the United Nations to show the world the proper way to solve this sort of problem. We should set back and let them stew in their own juices while turning back any illegal boats headed our way.

Clinton loaded the troop ships and sent them towards Haitti then turned them around and then sent them back and then turned them around and then sent them back. Finally the troops sat in ships off Port-a-Prince while Airistde's police killed civilians and burned out the ghettos. Clintoon is such a diplomat.

Haiti has a city? I've been there several times, and I've never seen a "city" in that dirty, stinking, backward island.
