In a slap at Wilmette village officials, Cook County prosecutors today announced they would not pursue charges against a homeowner, who shot and wounded an alleged home intruder, for letting his state firearms registration lapse.
"We choose to prosecute the real criminal here, the person who broke into this house not once, but twice," said Assistant State's Atty. Steve Goebel, supervising prosecutor in the Skokie courthouse.

Sure, it only took pressure by Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Bill O'Reillly to see the light.

Does the home owner get to keep his gun? Does the home owner have a negative record as a result of defending his family?

Someone's not getting a raise this year.... More likely, someone realized this decision would play well with the electorate if he ever decides to run for office.

While this was in Winnetka such things have happened here as well when victims have fought back. Shows what can happen when enough heat is put on these loonies.

Does the home owner have a negative record as a result of defending his family?Asked today why he continues to fight Wilmette, even though legal fees could end up costing him thousands of dollars, DeMar said, "It's a question of (village officials) usurping my right to defend my home. I don't think the municipality has a right to contravene my 2nd Amendment rights."
Mr. DeMar has not been prosecuted yet. Wilmette still has time to change their mind.
To: sistergoldenhair
The comatose, near-dead 2nd amendment stirs in Cook County. Better pump more arsenic into its veins before it wakes up, Mr. Mayor, before citizens throw us out of office for stealing their birthright.

I do believe that had the Assist. States Atty. been a female, she would be prosecuting the homeowner.

The Cook County State's Attorney is an elected office. The prosecutor is accountable to the voters of the entire county not just the voters of the whacked out Wilmette area represented in Congress by the likes of Jan Schakowsky (D-Havana). There is no way Dick Devine would prosecute an idiotic case like this one.
To: TheExploited
Dick Devine has given several press conferences related to gun confiscation, er, "control." He is a worthless machine politician.
