SARASOTA, Fla. -- If a Florida probation officer had been successful -- Joseph Smith could have been back behind bars more than a month ago.

Instead, he's suspected of being the man who kidnapped an 11-year-old girl on Sunday.

According to an official at the Florida Department of Corrections, a probation officer had asked a judge to declare Smith in violation of his probation on Dec. 30. That's because Smith hadn't paid all his fines and court costs.

But the official says a judge refused to find Smith in violation, which could have returned him to jail.

Carlie Brucia hasn't been seen since Sunday.

Police in Florida said there is "strong evidence" that the man they're questioning, Smith, abducted the child

Another example of coddling offenders. I understand he has a long record. Since Western culture does not seem to have the nerve/will to protect itself against criminals/terrorists, restrictions are enacted against EVERYONE, yet those with a real reason to detain, walk.

Finally a probation officer doing his job, and some bleeding heart liberal judge stands in the way.

Heartbreaking. The justice system again protects the predator over the victim.

Our catch-and-release program is great

Last week, a restaurant owner gunned down a robber, and the store owner is being charged now with manslaughter.

Shantavious Wilson, a registered sex offender, was fresh out of prison on armed robbery charges last October when he held up a Tampa restaurant owner, but now the state says he was the victim.

According to [restaurant owner] Storer, he was sitting in his truck outside his restaurant at about 11 p.m. October 29 when Wilson robbed him at gunpoint and took off on foot. The restaurant owner told police he called 911, then set off in his truck to find Wilson.

He caught up with Wilson three blocks away, in front of the Federal Courthouse. Storer claimed Wilson raised his gun, so he ran him over and killed him in self-defense.

Vigilantism will become more common unless we finally get a working judicial system.

This needs to be hung around this judge's neck. He is an accessory to murder.

I hope that judge lives a long life so he can look at himself in the mirror everyday knowing that he did NOTHING to keep that sicko off the streets & that little girl alive.
