Republicans who are eyeing the House race are state Sen. Mike Michot, Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach and Lafayette Parish School Board member David Thibodaux. Although the district gave John 87 percent of the vote in 2002, it also backed President Bush in 2000."

Excellent analysis.
Is there any chance we can have just one Republican run, grab on to Bush and hold on as tight as he can, and get 50%+1 in November? I would really like to avoid a December run-off (in which Bush would not be on the ballot, but in which Chris John may well be on the ballot).
