BATON ROUGE - The national debate over gay marriage is headed for the Louisiana Legislature this spring.

The religious right is gearing up for a state ban on gay marriage and an outlaw of any state or local taxpayer dollars spent on domestic partner benefits, whether they are extended to straight or gay couples.

Log Cabin Republicans, wealthy GOP gay men, say they will withhold support if Bush backs the marriage ban.

See, they never were really with us. They are just using those stupid enough to let them. When it is all said and done, they are a one issue crowd -- affirm our immorality or we are outta here.

Are laws going to be enough?

What prevents homosexual activists from challenging them in court and having them declared unconstitutional like they did to the Texas sodomy law?

I have to say that I'd really like to see a constitutional amendment banning this, and putting an end to the discussion once and for all. But the prospect of having a constitutional convention at this point in our history scares the hell out of me.

Response:Illustrative of the problem-debate! By having a 'debate' one assumes that there is a topic worthy of discussion. One implicitly holds that one's opponent represents a view-however mistaken-worthy of argument. One commands these perverts one does not discuss, hold dialogue, debate etc.

I automatically see red flags--for such nearly always
translates as language favoring special class protection
for a specific group based upon the transitory orientation
of who they want to have sex with when in a drug altered state.And most often politicans have had NO guilt whatever
in discriminating against the First amendment rights of
Christians -despite the fact that Joseph Story referred to
Christianity as the religion of America,when the Constitution an dBill of Rights were ratified.
