S.S. had a much better worker to payee ratio 50 years ago. Thus ur take home pay wasn't signifigantly reduced to pay for benefits. If you think things are going to remain the same in the next 20 for the good however, I've got a bridge to sell you.

That's because Roe v. Wade hadn't killed 40,000,000 innocent babies 50 years ago. A wise person on this board once pointed out that after WWI killed 17% of the French, the country declined and ceased to be a world power. Roe has taken 25% of our population -- and it's worse because it is the very young -- human beings who would have had a lifespan ahead of them of 60-80 years. The population who are supposed to support the retirees of SS are already 25% dead, thanks to the liberals on the Supreme Court.
