Men involved in shootout here illegally, police say

Two men charged in connection with a double homicide, rolling gun battle and attempted burglary in Des Moines on Saturday were in the country illegally, police said Monday.

Police Sgt. Todd Dykstra said police have not yet determined where the suspects obtained the gun or how many bullets were fired in the gun battle with police.

Investigators refused to release the 911 tape in the homicide investigation.

Jorge Perez-Castillo, 23, of Guatemala was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and four counts of attempted murder. He allegedly was firing at police while driving a truck and trying to flee his pursuers.

Hernando Sandoval, 28, of Mexico was charged with attempted burglary for allegedly trying to break into an apartment in the 2800 block of Douglas Avenue at the conclusion of the shootout.

Dykstra said he did not know how long Perez-Castillo and Sandoval had been in the Des Moines area. He said as dangerous as it was for those in the area early Saturday, it could have been worse had the two suspects managed to get inside an apartment at the end of the police chase. As it turned out, they were cornered and arrested without further injury.

Perez-Castillo is accused in the shooting deaths of Santo Bueso Sr., 49, of Des Moines and Manuel Mulloh, 27, of the Omaha area.

Two groups of men became involved in an altercation early Saturday morning at the Casa Vallarta restaurant, 2327 Euclid Ave. A scuffle occurred about closing time, and the men were asked to leave.

Mulloh and Bueso Sr. were killed and Bueso's son, Santo Bueso Jr., was wounded. He was taken to Mercy Medical Center. His condition on Monday was listed as serious.

Dykstra said the victims apparently were unarmed. Police would not say what the men were arguing about, or why an armed man allegedly opened fire on a group of unarmed men.

It's drugs --- some of the most violent possible types are coming over the border as they please and they will do absolutely anything at all for money. The gangs of Mexico are moving on over.

That right, keep telling yourself all Hispanics live in the slums of Juarez... very strange way of thinking.

The slums of Mexico is obviously where many of the illegals are coming from. Their own society has failed, instead of staying and reforming it, they are fleeing. No denying they are bringing problems of no education, high illegitimacy rates, gangs and the rest with them.

Besides I tend not to use the word "hispanics" unless others are using it for some reason because I don't really believe in the concept that everyone is either a "hispanic" or else a "non-hispanic". I certainly don't believe in a word like "anglo" which you seem to use but is a totally meaningless label.

You seem to associate "hispanic" with "illegals", this thread is about illegals who are also murderers and you're on here defending "hispanics" who aren't immigrants or who are legal immigrants --- the thread isn't even about them. It's about violent illegals from Mexico.

You clearly do not care much about history, geographic origins, or cultural tradition... Oh well, I guess you prove my point.

I would think that's more true of someone who uses the word "anglo" to talk about other than the people from England.

Like President Bush says, "family values don't stop at the Rio Grande." Does anybody know if Des Moines has one of those stupid sanctuary policies that protect and harbor illegal aliens like this?

OOOPs, I guess they're busted now. Will be kinda hard for the police to ignore them since they shot at the police and murdered two people. I know INS bureauRATS and Tom Ridge really would rather sweep this under the rug.

I wonder if these guys would be eligible for President Bush's guest-worker (amnesty scheme)when they are released from prison?

I posted on another thread last night thatI will be voting against Bush in the primary to voice protest against his policy decision. I used the word "w--back" in my post - a legitimate and accurate word - and was rebuked by a Freeper and banned for an hour (therefore unable to defend myself). I don't want to get my back all wet about this - but control of language and terms is how the Left beats us every time.
