Thanks a lot for checking into that. I guess we won't be hearing anymore from EOM then.

Cities can have their own level independent of the national level.

I would put Seattle at orange, or orange+. They are trying to prevent an imminent attack, IMO.

Thinking more about this radiological device/explosion thing. I just can't see how they could get that past the airport security.

I'm waaaaaaay behind y'all ... LOL ... and don't know if anyone has come up with this yet. But what about those dead men that were found in the wheel wells of those flights before Christmas.
As I recall, at least one was thought to have originated in Africa which means his body was there when the plane landed in Britain. No one spotted it til the plane landed in DC.

If this has already been brought up, disregard! LOL! Like I said, the FR WOT Think Tank group has been busy today and I'm struggling to catch up!
Good work, y'all!

I would put Seattle at orange, or orange+.

I live in South king county and don't find many reasons to come into Seattle. Maybe I'm being naive or blind to goings on (or both). FReepmail me if you prefer, but what are you seeing going on that makes you place the risk assessment at orange or above?

Cisco was pushing their VoIP snake oil as the panacea for internal company telecom cost control. The up front investment is large. The ROI is supposed to be derived by reduced cost in office rearrangements and bypass of the LEC and long distance company between sites. At 42,000 employees, my company leverages VoIP between corporate campus locations. We never believed that replacing the instruments on the desk was a paying proposition. Thus far, the assessment has been correct. PBX<->VoIP<->PBX is a paying proposition and adequate for most internal company communications.

But what about those dead men that were found in the wheel wells of those flights before Christmas. Saddly attempting to smuggle one's self in a wheel well isn't new. Every year a few are found frozen and suffocated in a wheel well. Only God knows how many simply fall out when the wheels are lowered.

For extra bonus points determine how much more difficult it would be to slap a bit of HE with a timer and/or a barometric fuse on a wheel strut, than it would be for a person to climb up the wheel strut and get into the well...

"Report: Iranian reformers resign

TEHRAN, Iran (Reuters) -- Reformist Iranian lawmakers on Sunday began submitting their resignations in protest over an unelected hardline body's move to bar hundreds of reformist candidates from standing in a February 20 parliamentary election.

Prominent reformist MP Mohsen Mirdamadi, in a speech to parliament broadcast live on state radio, read out a resignation statement which he said was on behalf of an unspecified number of fellow lawmakers who were resigning.

"They want to cover the ugly body of dictatorship with the beautiful dress of democracy," he said, referring to the mass disqualification of candidates by the hardline Guardian Council.

"This letter has so far been signed by 108 MPs," reformist lawmaker Ali Mazrouie said in a speech to parliament broadcast live on state radio. "

I'm aware they've found others in the past who have climbed into those wells. These recent ones just bothered me because of the lack of finding them in Britain. I hope they're paying more attention to that littlr detail these days.

As for how difficult it would be to slap a bit of HE with a timer and/or a barometric fuse on a wheel strut, I have noooooooo clue and am the first to admit it! LOL! I'm absolutely terrified of flying and don't go near planes.

I just recall others here wondering if those guys could have been put there as "test runs" to check the security. The theory may be way off the mark but it stuck in my mind. Those folks are anything but normal in their ways of thinking and of doing things.

I agree, look at MSO's like COX, Comcast, Cablevision, Time Warner, & Adelphia leading the way, moving from VoIP trials, to standard service offering nation wide.

It's not the technology is not there, its the incumbent legacy billing & OSS vendors are so entrenched in the MSO's network, most of it proprietary and customized over the past 20 tears, its a ton of money, to get all the edge systems up to date, not to mention they haven't implemented VoIP standards (see PacketCable, CableLabs, if you haven't already).

I don't want to tip my hand too much, but a couple of the more apparent ones are high visibility pre-positioning of l.e. at strategic infrastructure points and some specific surface transportation restrictions.
