Amazing how they've called off those flights, this time, without any protest or big flaps. I find that interesting. Seems even the French might have learned something, last time. Or, is the threat more specific this time? Hum

OK Liz this is what I heard this time...........
New security concerns for AF and BA...Greg Kelly. BA cancellations on advise from UK govt. Security officials say more may come, are looking into Newark Wash, Miami LA Houston and Las Vegas. Worry all along attempt to hijack and use plane as weapon like 9-11. """"May attempt to plant radiological device or bomb on one of these flights!!! No direct threat known. Another US based airline may also see canceled flights.

I just can't see how they could get that past the airport security. Anything radiological should be picked up immediately. You're assuming that the radiological device would have to pass through security and screening. What if its loaded on the airplane by Joe Jihad who works in secure areas.

Yes, you are right that thought entered my mind as I posted that. You would think they would use those "very popular" sniffing devices in the cargo hold of flights in question.

Come on everybody, slow down. I've been trying to catch up on this thread and I'm only up to 7,234 of 15,468 in the first thread... I'll never catch up at this rate!
To: Labyrinthos
Hopefully that is all they are reffering to.

More on Foxnews just a few minutes ago:
More flights may be canceled, all would be flights originating in Europe (could also include a US airline, which flies internationally, they didn't name it) and headed for the following US cities:
Newark, Washington, Miami, Los Angeles -- I think they mentioned a couple of other cities, I should have listened, instead of starting to type and missed it.
They also said, there is concern that the terrorists may plant a radiological bomb on one of the planes.
To: WestCoastGal
Personally I find it hard to believe that they would use commercial flights to carry such a device. Why risk that when they can use a small aircraft.

I'm here, briefly.
No, there are no plans to hike up any levels yet.
That can always change - what, you want to tip specific hands too soon?
Information has a shelf life, a "Use By" date. I hate using so many analogies to explain things, but it illustrates the problem.
If things get acted on toosoon, or too late, the other side, who you KNOW is listening, will either act, or change to react to your moves.
Like I said the other day, it's a giant chess match.
To: WestCoastGal
Is Greg Kelly speculating like us, or is he reporting information that he received from a reliable source?

I would surely try. At least by tackling the guy the baby and everyone else on the plane would have a chance. If you don't then everyone is going to die including the baby.

Exactly!
They can screen passenger luggage all day long and not find anything.
I think it's a bigger threat that someone working there could plant a bomb, than that a passenger could bring one on board.
