IGNFF: And that wasn't the first major injury you had had in your life
RHYS-DAVIES: "No, I had a plane crash in '85, and that was an entirely different thing. It's very, very interesting the first takeoff after that, I detected signs of the "Howard Dean panic attack" Oops!! Did I say that out loud? and spoke to myself very severely and admonished it, and I've never had one on takeoff since."

John Rhys-Davies has been in the new lately for citing the danger posed to western civilzation by muslim immigration. with this comment, I'd say he's become an honorary Freeper!
The link is to page two of the 7-page interview, on which the Dean comment is made.
The whole interview is well worth a read.

Thanks for the post. I saw advertised that he starred in Lord of the Rings and I wondered what character he played. Very hard to imagine him as Gimli son of Cloe(sp?) with all that hair and very short in stature.

I've liked this guy (or, rather, the characters he's played) since the first Indiana Jones picture. He always seems to play a man's man, and those characters have a Victorian quality about them (probably due at least in part to his accent) that seem to just ignore the fact of modern liberalism, which has utterly degraded all that is good about Western culture in the last couple of generations. I, at least, picture him as the typical male of 75 or 100 years ago, before Feminism and PC were invented to castrate the very idea of maleness. The fact that it now seems that he's not acting too much, that his characters are a reflection of this fine actor, warms my heart.

Every time I hear something about this man, my respect deepens. Not just for what he says, but for his having the courage to say it. The mentality in Hollywood these days is Orwellian.

Yes, he played the part of Gimli - and he was excellent in the part! He's my new hero on Lord of the Rings! I, too, have grown in respect and admiration for him as a man and as an actor. God bless him.

John Rhys-Davies and Dennis Miller shall be punished for defying the lords of Hollywood.
I remember when Tom Selleck had a promising movie career. Prior to the Rosie cruxifiction.

I liked him as Gimli. But as Treebeard, he was a bit wooden.

Thanks for the heads up. I am loving this guy the more I hear about him. And on a fringe note on this thread I learned he was the guy I love from Indiana Jones! TOo cool! To this day I say "I miss you already" when leaving a good friend, thinking of his character saying goodbye to Indy.
To: dangus
Oh, that's right! I had forgotten about that!
