Debate got quite heated this morning. Democratic state Sen. Russ Decker accused Senate Minority Leader Jon Erpenbach of blackmailing him into voting to sustain the veto.
Decker said Erpenbach threatened to yank him from his position on the powerful Joint Finance Committee if he doesn't vote to sustain the veto. Erpenbach didn't reply. He ordered the meeting closed to the public immediately after Decker made his statement.

The whole article is informative.
Besides slapping the faces of law-abiding citizens when it comes to their ability to defend themselves against dangerous criminal thugs, Democrat Governor Doyle also vetoed legislation aimed at limiting property tax increases. Doyle's your quintessential Democrat scumbag. Wisconsin voters elected him, and they are getting what they deserve.

Me too. I wonder if this makes him more likely to override or sustain? I guess that we will know tomorrow.
To: Lancey Howard
Doyle will present himself as perhaps the most pathetic incumbent Governor the State of Wisconsin has ever seen during his next election cycle. The only reason he's in office now is that Tommy Thompson accepted a position in GWB's cabinet, and after a decade and a half, the electorate dipped it's toe into the change for change's sake pond.
He's a lefty's lefty - an extremist of the first order who will, if left to his own devices, take Wisconsin to Neverland. Most people in Wisconsin recognize that he has absolutely nothing to offer them but higher taxes and future misery.
On to the subject at hand. It looks to me that 21 votes are in the bag, and that Decker's comments today were calculated to put the pressure on the two remaining dems who haven't publicly committed yet to honoring their original votes.
CCW laws are soooo mainstream America. I can't think of a better way to expose Doyle than to override his veto of The Personal Protection Act concealed carry bill, or at least try very hard to.
