These kinds of records destroyed by courts are usually COPIES submitted as exhibits in cases which are now closed. In Colorado this was ROUTINELY done, after first asking the lawyer(s) who submitted those exhibits if they wanted them back (usually not, because they're COPIES of what they keep in their own files). Regardless of what they are, attorneys of BOTH sides would have copies of those documents, as ANYTHING a lawyer submits to the court in a case MUST BE provided to the opposing attorney.
