Federal investigators continued their search-and-destroy mission through the ranks of the decimated Bonanno crime family, announcing yesterday the indictment of 28 reputed members and associates, including the acting bosses and a key mob leader in Canada.
The 20-count racketeering indictment charged many of the defendants with complicity in 15 murders or murder conspiracies from 1978 to 1992. Gambling, loan-sharking and drug charges also were included.

This cooperation, she said, gave prosecutors "front row seats" into Bonanno operations. In one instance, a family captain who was cooperating with investigators secretly taped reputed acting boss Anthony Urso talking about killing children of mobsters who helped police, according to court records.
"If you take one kid, I hate to say it, and do what you gotta do, they'll -- think twice," Urso said, according to court records.
I'm glad to see that "omerta" isn't what it used to be, and these guys are incredibly vile.
Nah, all they have to do is wait for another administration that'll sell them presidential pardons. Or threaten this one with exposure of the Republicans involved in their joint Mena drug import and transshipment operation.
