Paltrow: I'll Never Leave Britain
Movie & TV News ^ | 01/16/2004 | Celebrity News

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow is ruling out the prospect of returning to America to raise her child - because she deems her homeland too dangerous. The Oscar winning beauty - who is pregnant with her husband Chris Martin 's baby - has been living in London since settling down with the Coldplay star, and she has no intention of bringing up their child in a threatening environment. She says, "I worry about brining up a child in America. At the moment there's a weird, over-patriotic atmosphere over there, like, 'We're number one and the rest of the world doesn't matter.' And the guns in school - it's not great."

"And the guns in school - it's not great."

Yeah, especially when the majority of "guns" in public schools are drawings of guns by bored ritalin-addicted boys, fingers going bang-bang during recess, and miniature guns on GI Joe toys.

How terrifying.

I do not understand the big deal about her. I think Charlize Theron and her look a lot alike but is more talented than Paltrow.

I am glad they got married so the baby can have mom and dad, but I'm sorry that mom and dad are complete morons with regard to politics and foreign policy yet think they have something important to say about it.

I do not understand the big deal about her.

Her parents were both rich and famous Hollywood elites. They made sure Gwynnie was handed a career on a silver platter.

I had some friends that went to the same prep school as her at the same time she did, and they hated her even then, when she was totally unknown.

This wench must be daft! London today is one of the most dangerous cities in the world, thanks to the elimination of weapons for self-defense from the public. Worse, there are thousands of Palis and other radical Arab groups marching around condemning England, America and all other non-Islamic people. My take is that London will soon feel the weight of these radicals when they take up the jijad against the Brits. So better be careful, lady. You and your kids are in danger there.

Wait until she gets that first British tax bill. She'll be back.

As for the freedoms that are threatened to be taken away...did I say that right?....It is a little scary. But it's still better than anywhere else.

Johnny Depp pulled this same schtick, except he lives with the cheese-eating surrender-monkeys. Still loves that American money, though.
He really dragged "Pirates of the Carribean" down. Since it is a live-action Disney product my expectations were low when renting it.

over-patriotic

Huh? Over-patriotic?????? Didn't know that was possible, Miss ("I got famous because I had a famous Mom") Paltrow. If you really feel so strongly, refund all the money that's lined your pockets from citizens of our great country, which find so repugnant.

Oh yeah, and before I forget.....GOOD RIDANCE!

Perspective is everything - to me, there isn't enough patriotism in America. Seriously.

Seems that after just a half dozen or so generations the descendants of Europe's immigrants are going BACK HOME!! Is this a foreshadowing of what is to come? As more and more 3rd worlders immigrate to America how far away can the end of our FREE REPBLIC be? Question for the young men and women on this board. I doubt I will be around when we reach the point of no return. Then again maybe I have had to many JD's tonite.

"Don't call the child a bastard, it's not his/her fault."

Yep. Smart idea.....call the parents "basturds". That really is smarter. (I spelled it wrong on purpose!)

I hope she stays there. She is the typical left wing celebrity who made their fortune in American and then went to the foreign press complaining how terrible it is. She can stay there for all I care. She's not even a good actress anyway.

From gwynethpaltrow.org:

While promoting the film Sylvia (presumably in the UK), Gwyneth made the following comments which seem to be causing a stir:

'I think George Bush is such an embarrassment to America in the way that he doesn't take the rest of the world into consideration. And it all seems to be for him and his friends to keep getting richer at the expense of a nation, at the expense of the environment. It's like a full scale assault on the environment.'

I would rate her above average in looks (upper 10% of world population), average in acting ability, and comfortably below average (bottom 25% of US population) in political knowledge.

Bummer. I just rented View From the Top, hoping she was okay. What is with these people??

Funny you mention that. Was watching a Ben Stiller movie with my son. He teases me about all the actors and actresses (yes, I still use that word, female actors are ACTRESSES) that I've boycotted. Anyway, I just love Ben Stiller, and I said, "If he ever comes out spouting anti-American nonsense, I don't want to know about it".

Oh Gwennie, please stay in Britain. Better yet, take more of your H'weirdo friends. Your movies are terrible and the general public isn't wasting their money on you. Therefore, your career is down the tubes. So who needs you? There are many more qualified actors waiting in the wings just waiting for the parts. You're only as good as your last 2-3 movies. And, Gwennie, yours have been real stinkers.
