BRIT HUME, HOST: The administration is not saying anything about this, and it is not even clear officials know anything about it. But some sources in Iraq are talking about a development that could prove an important turn in the search for weapons of mass destruction. For more on this we turn to the man who so often seems to know things before everybody else.

There will also be many Iraqi dead and injured once these things are triggered.

I don't know what I make of Ijaz anymore. The last time I saw him he said bin Laden was in Iran, now this. I suspect there is more behind his periodic appearances than reporting information.

I know what you mean but the guy has a great resume.

I'm with you. He has pretty much lost his credibility with me - for whatever that is worth.
I hope he is very wrong on this one, too.

Ijaz is a very sharp guy and a truthful guy. Sometimes I think he is anxious to break a story that he gets from his Arabic contacts, and it's not verified stuff. Whenever I hear that a source is 'unimpeachable', just like the source that says OBL is in Iran, I am skeptical. Especially if the source is some Kurdish ex-Afghan fighter who sells illegal ordnance back and forth across the border.

A lot of folks (on another thread) and some here...
..have expressed distrust of this guy's credibility....
..but I heard on FOX just about an hour or less ago, Col.McInerney.....who all seem to respect....give a certain amount of validity to what has been said by Ijaz (sp)
He did not discredit this info at all!
At one point, said it was quite plausible!

At one point, said it was quite plausible! That's a far cry from "unimpeachable."

And remember, a chemical weapon, to have massive -- the most massive impact that it can have to have a midair burst. Which means that it needs to be launched from, let's say, 100 kilometers away or 50 kilometers away or 200 kilometers away. Exsqueeze me? What does how high it explodes have to do with how far away it's launched from?
It doesn't "need" to be launched from 50+ km away, it can be launched from zero feet away, straight up. Or dropped from (or exploded in) a plane, or on the top of a tall building, or...
To: Ichneumon
If the bad guys wanted to reduce their exposure to the chemicals, firing the missle from a distance would have its advantages.

#12..that may be....
.but his tone of voice and measured responses gave me the impression he finds him credible and not given to hyperbole.
He said a lot more than the word 'plausible'.....

I'm still waiting for the person Mansour Ijaz said took Saddam's enriched uranium to Syria to come forward now that Saddam has been captured. This was supposed to happen before Christmas, since Mansours source's family would no longer be in danger from Saddam..- Tom

I don't know if this will shed any light,or just muddy things up;but the Kurds and the Arabs are having a bit of a dust up over who is going to control the flow of oil in northern Iraq.
This could be a related factor ( Who knows what is relevant in the Middle East ? )and Ijaz may have been fed some BS.
