Hi, Kimmie. It's been a long time since we've talked.

I am responding to your post about how well your dogs are trained. You are certainly a responsible pet owner. It's very impressive what you've done with your friends. I think a lot of credit goes to the dogs, too - probably have good genes.

I have a St Bernard like that; she just seems to "know" things naturally. She won't even touch a plate of "human" food on the floor unless I tell her it's okay. She's the sweetest dog I've ever seen in my life, wouldn't hurt a fly. But I wouldn't trust her brother with strangers EVER, and he's been fixed!

Anyway, I just wanted to compliment you on the wonderful job you've done with your doggies. It was nice to read about it.

That was SO NICE of you to write that post to me Judy...thank you very much! Your dog sounds like he fills a special place in your heart...he respects you, and your territory. Saint Bernards are beautiful dogs..they're huge too! My first experience with one, I was about 5-6 yrs old.. it was playing with me, and it seemed like it was swallowing my entire arm. I still laugh about that...

My rottie was my "pardner" during many many days (both good and bad) while the kids were at school, and hubby was at work. She is special in my life. I was NOT a dog person until after I got her as a puppy. I now understand the bond between man and dog. Before all I could think of was "they stink, give me my cats anyday"... lol I'm still a cat person...and amazingly, something I never thought would happen; My rottie loves my cats, and they love her too.

The best and FUNNIEST friend I ever had in my life was a Great Dane named Brutus. He's been dead 10 years. I still cry for him.

Now, there's 4 dogs and 4 cats here on our new place in the country. All spoiled rotten. LOL

My son got the two pups to be squirrel dogs and to be outside watch dogs. It just kills me. I've never had outside animals before. I worry myself sick they are going to freeze to death. LOL But they have a wonderful dog house made out of an old shower stall placed under the cabin out of the elements, carpet covering it and on the floor with lots of quilts. My other son checked it out last night (in the mid 20's), and he said it was actually WARM in there.

The funny thing is though that we don't need any squirrel dogs. We have a squirrel CAT! It's hilarious. He's the squirrel turner and loves it. Goes hunting every time my son heads out with the 22.

BTW, did you notice I moved to Arkansas? I love it here so much, because I can have all of the animals I want. Don't believe all those stories you hear about Arkies. These people are the most wonderful and kind people anywhere. Where we live though, the people are protective of their area. Right after we moved here, they ran some other new person off. They thought about doing it to us, but I guess we passed muster of some sort. ROFL

I probably should FReepMail this, I guess. Oh well. Maybe somebody else will want to read our gossiping together. Been a long time since we've done it. :)
