A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Celebrate Living...

Today we are featuring suggestions, observations and reminders on how to live a happy and rewarding life. Most are excerpts from "Life's Little Instruction Book" by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. I strongly recommend the books...there now being 3 volumes. If possible, please click on the music link below (Africa). We guarantee the combination will make you feel good all day. Enjoy!

Hi, everyone --

I know I don't drop in as often as I probably should, but I'd like to point out one of the "little things" that was pointed out to me in the midst of my self-pity this weekend: though I've been out of work and keeping the baby at home since October, she hasn't been sick once. Considering how many people have become critically ill with the flu and other nasty bugs, for Lynese to go all this time without even a sniffle is a blessing indeed.

Thanks for sharing that. And what a sweetheart little Lynese is. Give her a hug from all of us here!

P.S. Also want you to know how much I appreciate being on your ping list. I learn much daily!

Forgetting those things which are behind . . . , I press toward the goal.

THINKING IT OVER
What mistakes of the past are still burdening you?
Have you confessed them to God and accepted His complete forgiveness? (1 John 1:9).
When you do, your future will hold great promise

Instead of living in the shadows of yesterday, walk in the light of today and the hope of tomorrow.

Looking Ahead

Read: Philippians 3:7-14

Forgetting those things which are behind . . . , I press toward the goal. —Philippians 3:13-14

Bible In One Year: Genesis 31-32; Matthew 9:18-38

The month of January is named after Janus, the Roman god of beginnings. He was symbolized as a man with two faces, one looking back and the other looking ahead.

Some people have trouble looking ahead with hope because they keep looking back and moping over the mistakes of the past. Their outlook for the future is dimmed, and their enthusiasm is dampened. But there is no use "crying over spilled milk." History is likely to repeat itself if they keep on brooding over failures of the old year, or continue complaining about the injustices they suffered during the last 12 months. Nothing is gained by continually grieving over the past.

On this day early in the new year, begin by confessing your sins to the Lord and accepting the gracious forgiveness He offers (1 John 1:9-10). Make right what needs correcting, and then, "forgetting those things which are behind," press onward with confidence and trust in your heavenly Father (Philippians 3:13-14). That was Paul's secret, and it worked.

Let's stop looking back and brooding over past failures. Rather, with a forward look, let's move ahead with hope and joy. —Richard De Haan

Have you confessed them to God and accepted His complete forgiveness? (1 John 1:9). When you do, your future will hold great promise.

Good morning Aeronaut. I finally did it! Logged my first hour in my very own flight log on Sunday. Will be training in a Diamond Eclipse. I will admit I was a little nervous...it was a pretty windy day...but once we got about 3,000 feet it was pretty neat. My turns were VERY wide and you should have seen me initially taxi. Felt pretty bad for the instructor...I WAS ALL OVER THE RUNWAY! But...I'm up for the challange!

Hmmm....where to start? Some of my favorite things these days.
When my cat, Lucy, jumps up on the couch and keeps me company.

Pretty much any time I skate. I've been landing a jump I've struggled with for what feels like forever. Inconsistently, but it happens with some regularity now. I've even had witnesses which means it's "real." LOL

My performance review - really positive.

And I'll feel a whole lot better once I get the results back on some tests I've had to have done.

Beautiful, very well done!
I've found if the music is playing while trying to post it can lock things up, that may have caused your problem last night.

Found some more sayings from 'Life's Little Instruction Book' (which was one of my dad's favorite little books that he gave away as gifts).

Whenever you hear an ambulance siren, say a prayer for the person inside.

Hold a child's hand when crossing the street.

Don't forget that a couple of words of praise or encouragement can make someone's day.

Remember that a minute of anger denies you sixty seconds of happiness.

On your birthday, send your mom a thank-you card.

Never criticize your country when travelling abroad.

When you hear a kind word spoken about a friend, tell him so.

When loved ones drive away, watch until you can no longer see the car.

Keep a backup copy of your personal address and telephone book.

Never buy a coffee table you can't put your feet on.

Say something positive as early as possible every day.

Regardless of the situation, remember that nothing is ever lost by courtesy.

When staying at a hotel or motel, don't accept a room next to the ice or vending machines.

Enjoy the satisfaction that comes from doing little things well.

Never go near a kid who's holding a water hose unless you want to get wet.

Never refuse a holiday dessert.

GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!

I know I was absent yesterday, I was on the Dementional Doorway thread most of the time. Great folks over there too! :O)

(just don't tell them because it might go to thier heads, HEE! HEE!)

Could'nt resist that, Darks! LOL!

What I do for happiness?

Ignore negative people (They'll alway get you down)

Look in a mirror and say "I love You" (It's not vanity, it's making it better for you to love others)

Unlike a certian Dem. candidate from Vermont, see EVERYONE as my neighbor, brother, and sister ( regardless of weather I agree or disagree with them!)

Say "Thank You" to God each morning for the new day.

Come to FR to get my perspective on what really matters. (And to get away from my liberal coworkers)

HAVE FUN!!!!
