[history]
Government agencies and nonprofit groups throughout Oregon have canceled meetings over the past week because of snow, ice and freezing rain.
However, an e-mail notice postponing an event scheduled Thursday night in Portland inadvertently was humorous.

Using a global warming umbrella to get rid of the pesky mosquito is ridiculous. This little monster can be gotten rid of by draining swamps and DDT. Kill a bug or kill a human is the scale.

In another life, I worked for county government. The best memo I ever saw read...
"The scheduled meeting of the planning committee has been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict."

I saw a memo once (federal government) that read:
"The recent memo about the filing deadline contained an error. The deadline is not February 31. The actual deadline is February 30."

The same thing can be said of the mountain lions in California. Kill the lions or let them attack more people.

I believe the article said that there were 2 cats. Anytime there are 2 mountain lions in the same area, other than mating, there is an over population.
California was overrun with them when they put in the ban and eliminated the bounty based on a phony university study.

When I lived in Mission Viejo, in the eighties, the cats were a common site, wandering the green belt that ran through town. That was before the development had taken place behind Mission Viejo.

In the 50s when I was in college one of my friends aid his way through college hunting mountain lion for the bounty.
$110/female, $90/male not only paid for his education but provided him with a good living and he only hunted on weekends.

There should be a "true stories humor page" here!
(ever see the old "real announcements from church bulletins" list? Laughter is good for the soul!)
