Help Block The Rove Amnesty Plan In Congress (Part II), Contact YOUR Congressman

Folks, the Bush Administration is going to issue an Amnesty plan, and it's worse than most of us had imagined.

The plan will call on Congress to give EVERY Illegal Immigrant in the entire country Amnesty.

But fortunately for us, Bush apparently isn't going to issue a specific piece of legislation to be voted on. Instead, He is going to issue a broad range of "principles" he wants the Congress to consider and leave the specific details to our Congressmen to work out.

There is considerable opposition to giving even 500,000 Illegal immigrants amnesty (Like the McCain Bill), let alone all 12 million illegals in the country.

Tom Tancredo believes that he has enough votes in Congress to block any amnesty bill:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2004/01/07/MNGBU452B51.DTL

"The administration spends a lot of time saying this is not an amnesty bill, which is exactly what this is," said Carlos Espinosa, a spokesman for Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo.

"We believe we have enough support to prevent anything from happening on this, and it's very likely this will go nowhere," Espinosa added."

We need to press this advantage by calling our Congressmen and putting as much pressure as possible on them to not grant any amnesty.

Since Bush is only going to offer "Principles" and no specific legislation, there is a very good chance we can pressure the Congress to not bring any Amnesty bill to a vote because Bush is leaving the details up to Congress.

So please call your Congressmen and tell them to not grant an amnesty.

Thank you all,

Pubbie

I believe Graham voted against the Orrin Hatch "Dream Act" along with Saxby Chambliss of Georgia.

Tancredo was on Savage last night. It is far worse than the 10 million. By using family reunification, that number will grow exponentially. Tancredo cited a single individual that was responsible for bringing in an additional 247 people into the country. He also said that when the word amnesty is in the news, the influx across the border increases as well.

I understand why union leadership would be for illegal immigration...what I don't understand is why union *membership* would be for it. Their wages, opportunities, and benefits are being sapped by competition with illegal labor. Is there a possibility of drawing them into the issue?

The sky is falling, the sky is falling.

10 million added to the public services (social security, health care, Medicaid), plus a dozen or so family members, each.

Guess who's gonna pay for those emergency room treatments, health services, educational services, etc. Not the illegals--they can't afford it. That leaves ????? you.

These people are already here and aren't going anywhere anytime soon. President Bush isn't doing anything but making a speech today. Any change to immigration policy is going to take time. I'm of the mind to hear him out on this before I go into convultions over it.

Where did you see this? Even in the link you have it doesn't say this...and if Bush is going to give guidelines then how can the plan already say this?

I'm of the mind to hear him out on this before I go into convultions over it.

This isn't the first round of amnesty. It was going full speed ahead until interrupted by 9-11-01 atrocities. It started gaining steam again (pushed by GWB Admin), until stopped on a procedural motion by Senator Byrd in 2002.

So this is actually round 3 of trying to give illegals "status." Actually, it is round 4, because, under the Clinton admin about 1996, the "last" amnesty was granted and IT was SUPPOSED TO BE the last.

"Where did you see this?"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A60529-2004Jan6.html

The administration estimates that 8 million undocumented people, more than half of them from Mexico, are in the country. All would qualify as long as an employer will vouch for them, the official said. Administration sources described the program broadly, and lawmakers will determine its details and fate.

"So long as the undocumented person represents that they are working here and we can confirm that, then it could be as many as 8 million people" affected, the official said on a conference call for reporters.
