They have no fear! My children have traveled regularly to LA for the last 4 years since their father died to visit his brother and his family. After 9-11 I have been VERY reluctant to send them. (I'm a real bad flier myself, a real fraidy-cat) They were not aprehensive at all. He usually travels with 16yr old Sister, but he was the one that got the Golden Honor roll so the extra trip this year was his reward. First time away for X-mas too.
I think I'm going to sit on him like a mother hen for a while! ;o)

"Perhaps this requires further research. I always wanted to try my hand at painting."

She teaches art in Canada, you know she's gotta be a lefty. Don't go near her class. Just save your mental image so that she will always be perfect. Don't ruin it for yourself.

Thanks for the great job you've done.

I don't think we've gotten any confirmation that the woman in the jacket was cleared. Only "allowed to rebook," which says almost nothing.

A nervous final 90 minutes, per the young man interviewed, could mean that the woman who wasn't allowed on the flight finally admitted something irregular regarding the plane, causing the f-16 escort, delay and bomb-sniffing canines.

I hear ya. Its too long a commute for me anyway. I hate to think everything has to be political though. That is what the commies like to make of their lives.

Just went and read it...had been just skipping to the end every 10 min. or so to see if anything started.

Great minds and all that...

So it was a lousy analogy then that another Freeper made, saying our chances of being hit by a meteor are higher than being involved in a terrorist attack.

Welcome! They are a relly great crew. One of the teachers at the school I work at is good friends with a guy who used to do keybords for them so he usually tells me when they are in town. They just played New Years eve at Navy Peir here in Chi-town, but I was unable to see them
Another good bad with a similar sound is Sonia Dada. They used to share studio space with my brother's band here downtown years ago. Really nice people too!

Your scenario makes sense to me. Sadly, we'll probably NEVER know what really happened today. Even if you're right, I doubt it'll be reported.

This may be used to establish a pattern that such jackets are acceptable or permissable without further inspection.

Once security is relaxed on such jackets as being 'normal' and 'acceptable', they can then be modified by the terrorists to use a battery to explode them.

I just read that she was married to Brolan, so that pretty much seals the deal.

I agree about having to politicize everything, but I just can't help it. For example, my 4yo son wanted "Pirates of the Caribbean" for Christmas, but I just couldn't buy it and risk supporting Johnny Depp. I would also like to go see "Big Fish" in the theaters, but I don't want to contribute to Jessica Lang's income (I saw her in the previews).

This stuff gets reported one of two ways -- in either real time, like from Dianna, which can't be immediately filtered, but can be changed later, if necessary; or because something terrible happens.

I'd rather read between the lines, and everything stay calm.

Seems to me HS is working great, 24/7.

Okay, Folks, here's what I've picked up at the Ops Center:

This has at this hour, been declared a "False Alarm" by several news organs, Reuters in particular.

Suspect woman was nabbed on the ground in France with the wired leather jacket, and cleared.

Other information caused NORAD to scramble the sortie about 45 minutes out from US airspace.

Note this blurb from NORAD, via Kentucky Post:

"For operational security reasons, we will not discuss specific flight information. NORAD is responsible for defending North American airspace and as such will take appropriate action to protect Canadians and Americans where they live and work."

"Since Sept. 11, 2001, NORAD has scrambled fighters or diverted air patrols more than 1,600 times in response to possible air threats, and have combined with AWACS and air-to-air refueling tankers to fly more than 33,000 sorties."

Kentucky EM was alerted to the potential threat, and we were on standby until 20 minutes ago.

In other words, Folks, "Move along, Citizens, nothing to see here."

But the upside is: everything that was supposed to work, did.

And THAT is a good thing.

Sarge, thank you for the information. Something was going on, for sure. Now I don't feel quite so exasperated at the Cincinnati reporter.

Dianna, thank you so much for the thread and the information. As a bonus, I got to relive WKRP and Go, Dog, Go!
