Principal Resigns Over School Drug Raid

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. - A high school principal announced his resignation Monday after coming under fire over a November drug sweep in which police with guns drawn ordered students to the floor.

"I realized it is in the best interest of Stratford High School and of my students for me to make a change," George McCrackin said in a statement.

School officials asked Goose Creek police to come into the school Nov. 5 after receiving reports of marijuana sales on campus. Police said dogs sniffed drug residue on 12 book bags but found no drugs. No one was arrested.

The raid led to allegations of excessive force and racism, because many of the students were black.

District Superintendent J. Chester Floyd said McCrackin will be reassigned to a still-undetermined position. But he said McCrackin will probably spend the coming weeks preparing for two lawsuits filed by students over the incident.

One down... now all the police who participated and authorized the raid need to go, as well.

I'm sure there's a job waiting in Homeland Security for McKrakin.

This is one of the most phenomenal high schools that I have ever heard of. They did a complete search, drug dogs and all and did not find any pot???? What- they don't have a soccer team????

I hope this guy serves as an object lesson to other room-temperature-IQ types who aspire to be commanders in the War on Drugs.

Do you have any doubt that the kids knew there was going to be a drug search.

In my experience the principal tips the kids off because he doesn't want his school to make the newspapers for drugs.

This backfired, big time.

George McCrackin will learn that in the current American environment it is better to just look the other way, let it go, don't make waves.....do nothing! This is no longer a place for the law abiding. America itself has changed. America will get what it allows: drugs, corruption, hatred, abortion, and disrespect for law.

It was not always like this in America.

I wonder - if most of the student population were white, would this thug have resigned?

It sucks that the race card had to be played to bring this WOD-related injustice to light: every American is a potential victim of the WOD, not just minorities.

"McCrackin will be reassigned to a still-undetermined position"

Translation: this human grease spot will continue to be fully employed by a government school system that rewards incompetence and probably retire at 55 with 100% of his pension intact.

The charges of racism are nonsense.

The WOD boot doesn’t care much about the color of the head. It just kicks it.

drugs, corruption, hatred, abortion, and disrespect for law.

Except abortion, I think that's the motto over the entrance to the DEA headquarters in Washington.

I'd rather put up with a few drug users than have jack-booted thugs pointing sidearms at children.

This is no longer a place for the law abiding. America itself has changed.

"The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this." - Albert Einstein, "My First Impression of the U.S.A.", 1921

Yeah you're right ... that darn Constitution always seems to get in the way of law enforcement
