What an idiot. If he had just came clean back then, he'd be in the Hall of Fame.
The truth will always set you free.

Keep the ban on Rose.

Keep the ban on Rose. For what? He's the greatest hitter of all time. Racist Ty Cobbs is in the Hall, as well as other shadier characters who played baseball.

You don't understand. Baseball's Hall of Fame is very prestigious, much more rigorous than the other professional sports.
Admitting Rose, who tarnished the game with his gambling and his refusal to admit any wrongdoing, is a slap in the face to all the baseball legends that now reside in Cooperstown.
Besides, Cobbs played in a different era. Comparing Cobbs to Rose is comparing milk to vodka.

He also has an exclusive primetime interview with ABC coming soon which I'll bet (sorry!) is part of ESPN's (owned by ABC) sourcing on this.
Were I a voting member, I would pass on him and let this go to the Veterans Committee. Part of me believes he derves induction for his on-field accomplishments. But part of me thinks he should only be inducted posthumously.

Ty CObb was a well documented hateful racist. Rose is not. Rose is flawed but isnt hateful.

If he bet on his own team to win, or bet on other teams, not his own, then I don't see a problem.
If he bet on his own team to lose, then he should be banned forever.

Sounds like Rose is getting sweaty...time's running out for getting elected
by sportswriters.
I heard former pitcher Frank Pastore say that most of the players that he's talked
to say they'd never vote to put Rose into the Hall of Fame.
I'm no big baseball fan and Rose was a great player/personality...
but I guess some folks in baseball really that that "NO BETTING" sign that
hangs in every stadium very seriously.

You think Rose doesn't hate Bart Giamatti or John Dowd?

I'm with you. Why honor someone who admits to breaking the rules? Why honor someone who then lies for 14 years about having broken the rules? It runs counter to the whole purpose of the Baseball Hall of Fame-- excellence. Of course, if morality doesn't matter....

You don't understand. Baseball's Hall of Fame is very prestigious, much more rigorous than the other professional sports. LOL!! Dude, that bromide went the way of the dinosaurs years ago. For God's sake, Fergie Jenkins is in the HOF!!. Talk about lowering the bar!!
If Pete is not admitted into the Hall of Fame. especially in an era where cocaine users are repeatedly given new life by greedy owners, then there is no justice.
Rose was the greatest player of my generation and to not admit him, regardless of the circumstances off the field, is a damn joke.

So, then: Some betting is ok, and some isn't? And, do we leave it up to the players to decide which is which?
