"The California Congress of Republicans Endorses CAIR. Yes, believe it or not, if local chapters are seeking speakers on "Middle Eastern Affairs and understanding Islam," the CCG, which presents itself as "a grass-roots political organization, founded in 1989 and permanently chartered by the California Republican Party," offers first up none other than the director of CAIR's Northern California office, Helal Omeira. And here I thought only left-wing Democrats like Dennis Kucinich would wish to associate with an organization with three of its leadership in jail on terrorism-related charges. What an embarrassment this is to Republicans everywhere. Let's hope wiser heads immediately pull this endorsement. To help push them in the right direction, you can write the California Republicans at ccrcrp2000@aol.com. If you live in California, mention this, and also if you are a registered Republican. "The Kalifornia Kaliphate"
Of course, the Bee is a Democrat "news"paper. The connection to the Republicans IMO is that Democrat Party moles run the California Republican Party -- don't give the Republicans credit for the recall of Davis. The mainstream was against the effort finally getting on board when it was hopeless to stop it.
Here is what one of the Bee brains thinks about CAIR -- before I forget, within hours of 9/11/01 the Bee brains were blaming us because we don't try to "understand" the rest of the world. Here is the article -- oh, before I forget again, shortly. after 9/11/01 and at a mid-year graduation at a local university Bee publisher Ms Heaphy was booed off the stage for denouncing President Bush and Att. Gen. Ashcroft for being mean to terrorists' suspects.
"Editorial notebook: Muslim Americans defend their freedom, ours," by Ginger Rutland -- Bee Editorial Staff, Tuesday, December 23, 2003. The newspaper's employee is commenting on a CAIR fund raiser she attended. (CAIR raised $113,000 in less than an hour, not bad)
". . .For Muslim Americans, the fallout of 9/11, the wars in Afghanistan and in Iraq, even the capture of Saddam focus an unwelcome and uncomfortable spotlight on them. They feel under attack that their loyalty is doubted, their patriotism suspect. In response to the threat, Muslim Americans have borrowed a page from a well-worn playbook used by legions of beleaguered minorities who preceded them: They've organized politically.
"The Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, is at the center of that effort. A Washington-based civil rights organization with 30 chapters across the United States and Canada, CAIR's stated mission is to "improve the American Muslim experience through education, political activism, community interaction and media relations." . . .
"While they may have come from different parts of the world or practiced their religion in a slightly different way, they were joined together for a single purpose that night: to defend and protect the precious freedom they had come to this country to enjoy.
"When I departed that evening, having listened to their stories and watched them organize and raise money and reach out to allies, as an outsider and a non-Muslim I felt somehow that my own freedoms had been made more secure. I was grateful for that."
Republicans went to CAIR for much the same reason that companies wanting a database buy Oracle, or new Internet users sign up for AOL. They may understand that there are better alternatives, but this is something they've heard of and many other people have confidence in. Rather than do their homework and find an actual good choice, they go with the easy and obvious one.
