God rest their souls. I hope our teams hurry and get there, they're pretty good and organizing things and that's what is needed now more than ever.

A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules landed in Kerman, near Bam, with a first shipment of aid and the U.S. military said it would ship in about 70 tonnes of aid originally earmarked for reconstruction in Iraq (news - web sites) after the U.S.-led war. Interesting. Last Iranian earthquake, US shipped aid via a chartered DC10 flown by a Ugandan crew with no American markings.

"There is actually no coordination," he said They are busy burying the dead. There is a lot of coordination going on, but it has to be prioritized.

What, muslims stealing from other muslims? Impossible.
On a serious note, I looked thru the pictures on yahoo news and noticed that they are burying these people in what appears to be very shallow graves - barely deep enough to hold a body, not the deep pits I've seen for other mass graves. I think there may be problems down the line.

I liked the bit about the "armed young men" looting supplies. They are Revolutionary Guardsmen-responsible only to the mullahs, and, according to some posts I have read here, they have themselves a field day anytime there is a natural disaster. 10 years ago, they were selling US-donated tents on the streets of Tehran.

Why does not the U.N. have a disaster team ready to deploy at a moment's notice???
Or is that a supremely silly question??

The Islamic Republic's call for help from anywhere but Israel contrasted with its rejection of international assistance in 1990 This is a big change!
This morning, the pastor at our church led us in prayer for the people devastated by the earthquake in Iran.
