Iranian Leaders to Victims: Better That You Die Than We Accept Israeli Help

Iran took time out from dealing with its tens of thousands of earthquake casualties to spew forth more hatred towards Israel - even at the expense of its own dead, wounded, orphans and homeless. "The Islamic Republic of Iran," announced the country's official news agency IRNA, "welcomes all the humanitarian aid being offered by various countries and organizations - except for that from the Zionist entity."

Despite the above, Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom issued a statement of condolences, saying, "The Government of Israel and the people of Israel feel the pain of the human tragedy being experienced by the Iranian people. Amidst all our differences, what is required at these moments is total mobilization by the international community to help the families of the dead and injured."

It should also be noted that during the height of recent Greek-Turkish hostilities, the two countries sent aid to each other when they both suffered earthquakes a month apart in 1999.

Private and public Israeli groups are attempting, despite the Iranian government's hostility, to help ease the enemy country's human suffering, via third parties or other unofficial channels. "This is not a political question," said Dr. Mike Naftali, Chairman of the Topaz Humanitarian Fund of the Israeli Kibbutz Movement. "Tens of thousands of children are suffering terribly, and it is incumbent upon us, as human beings, to help them."

I believe we should give the Iranians what they wish for, nothing from us or the Israelis. Let the rich Arab states take care of their own this time. The resulting FUBAR will compound the number of casualties.

Israel, the US and any Western country that helps these dirtbags are just being stupid. As soon as we finish helping them they're gonna be trying their best to kill us.

This is just so many thousands of less enemies we're gonna have to deal with later.

This reminds me of the African dictators that claimed when millions died of famine it was their god's way of reducing the population. Of course it had nothing to do with the warlords stealing food and burning farms.

Not to nitpick, but Iranians are not Arabs. They are much more intelligent than Arabs, yet Arabs consider them second class Muslims. Many of the Iranians I know in LA don't like Arabs because the religion of pieces conquered and oppressed Persia, forbade their practice of Zarathustria (which probably wasn't a blood lust religion like Islam), and claimed much of Persia's intellectual achievements as their own.
You will see democracy much sooner in Iran than you will in any Arab country with the possible exception of Iraq, and only because of GWB.

We should do nothing to aid Iran. Since they hate the west let their rich islamic neighbors aid them.

Then we shall see how much help they get. Iran is rich in Oil, how much help did they send to us after 9/11 -- that is how much we should send in aid to them!

First of all, please know that this is the current government of Iran and their fanatical followers. There are many in Iran who long for the day that the nutcase government there is demolished.

In light of recent pro-democracy demonstrations in Iran, I think it is important that we send aid. I think it will be a good investment when the time arises to intervene in Iran militarily.

Would someone explain to me, please, how any rational human being, from an illiterate hillbilly to the president of the United States could argue that the civilized world can reason with such a hopeless cultural and religious basket case?
And I refer to islam, not any particular country.

Harrummpf!

With an attitude like that, I'll bet next year the Mullahs don't get invited to Israel's Christmas Party! Oh,... wait a minute....
