JI has trained thousands already in Indonesia. Their training has resulted in the destruction of 80,000 Christian homes, 10,000 Christian deaths, and untold amounts of suffering. -----------------------------------
Singapore's Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng recently warned that the next generation of Jemaah Islamiah (JI) terrorists are being groomed in regional camps and that many more attacks in the vein of the Bali and Marriott bombings are coming. Many of those being trained in these camps are sons of JI members in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore and they are being groomed to be the next generation of leaders. One such JI cell in Pakistan that was led by Indonesian Islamic cleric Abu Bakar Bashir's son and, more recently, by the brother of Hambali, the alleged JI operations chief.
Many of the upcoming Jihad warriors are being groomed in Pasantrens (Islamic Boarding Schools) in Indonesia. Seng said "governments must find ways to neutralize or dissolve these radical and militant schools." Incredibly, the US govt. is sending approximately $170 million to Indonesia for it's educational system. ICC has been told by member of the Indonesian government that some of this money will "leak" to the radical Pasantrens. JI has trained thousands already in Indonesia. Their training has resulted in the destruction of 80,000 Christian homes, 10,000 Christian deaths, and untold amounts of suffering.
Seng went on to say "so even as the JI organization is under keen pressure from the security actions from governments in the region, it is already regenerating itself both at the leadership as well as the working or operational level." He also said that JI "had been disrupted' but was 'by no means eliminated".
Sent also mentioned a number of interesting signs to indicate JI's continuing influence and threat:
|
Warning of more attacks, he added: 'Our intelligence assessment is that JI elements on the run, including its master bomb-maker Azahari Husin, are likely to plan more suicide attacks along the lines of Bali and the recent Marriott Hotel bombing in Jakarta.'
To deal effectively with the terrorist threat, a multi-pronged effort is needed.

Other speakers on Thursday included US Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, who highlighted the need for global cooperation, and former Central Intelligence Agency director James Woolsey, who emphasized that the anti-terrorism war would be a long one.
Correction: they are being bred to be the next generation of murderers.
