WASHINGTON -- The Bush administration is about to get off the sidelines in an immigration reform fight shaping up for early next year. With farmers and farmworker advocates pressing for a Senate vote as early as February, and big coalitions lobbying extensively behind the scenes, the game plan is already unfolding. For hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, many of them in California, this could mean the best chance in years at attaining legal U.S. status.

They only have to work 60 days a year for the next six years!!!!!!! WTF????

I don't give a damn about Saddam. I want my country back, and not full of Mexicans who only have to work 60 days a year and draw welfare for the other 305 days!!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!

How much does this cost those of us who pay taxes and live within the law?? I farm for a living - without any illegals, just Americans - why the hell can't the rest of agriculture get a grip? (Because they're communists at heart.) Damn, I could go on, and on...................Mark my word: If this passes, I won't be following any laws I disagree with - or paying my taxes. Screw 'em.

Vote from the rooftops.

Note to President Bush:

If you want to guarantee that you are voted out of office in 2004, this issue (along with the assault weapons ban) has the greatest potential to accomplish that.

Stick to doing what is RIGHT for America first and foremost, not what makes V. Fox or any other foreign head of state happy. They don't pay your salary. Take note of what made voters in California vote for Arnold - illegals getting driver's licenses (much less citizenship). "We The People" want our borders SECURE, and the illegals deported. "We the People" want employment at a fair wage, without having to compete against foreign labor inside our own borders. That's your job #1 - national security.

And those soldiers you admire so much? Take it from a 10 year veteran who served during your father's administration: They will look at you like a Clinton if you push this thru. And so will the rest of America.

Think about that. Don't sell out America now after all that has happened. The results may be far worse than merely an election.

Free faxes that address this insult to America are ready to send at www.numbersusa.com.

Our leaders are being swayed by foreign interests rather than the voters and taxpayers of America. It seems that we have elected a king, not a President.

Agricultural groups, including the California Farm Bureau Federation and the Fresno-based Nisei Farmers League, like the bill because it reforms and streamlines the system for bringing in foreign workers.>>>>>>>

GEEZ......Is there such a *shortage* of foreign workers in CA we need to 'streamline the system' to bring MORE into the USA ???

The United Farm Workers and immigrant groups like the bill because it offers illegal immigrants now working in agriculture the chance of becoming legal U.S. residents.>>>>>>

Yes, and then they can LEGALLY receive all the generous welfare checks that CA has to offer.

And can't afford to pay because we're bankrupt.

I agree with you and will not vote for Bush if he follows this course, the same goes for his not stopping all the congressional PORK spending.

This is THE issue concerning all Americans, IMO.

Anything short of forcing all illegals to go home & get back in line legally will lose Bush my vote.

"The administration's own immigration details remain a closely held work in progress."

This is what bothers me most about government nowadays. Why is it closely held? Bush and congress are well aware of what the vast majority of Americans feel about illegal immigrants and amnesty. If they feel they have above board reasons for legalizing them then put it out in the public forum. Tell us why. And then listen to our response.

The more of this stuff I read, the more I'm leaning towards your suggestion of writing in Tancredo. Note to politicians: you're either with us or against us.

Yes, the 'illegal lovers' claim they are *so good* for our economy, yet look at the shape ($$) CA is in.

Then when everyone knows CA 30 billion in the hole, the first time the illegals don't get what THEY WANT, they call for an "economic boycott". The USA can't AFFORD any more friends like these.....

Yeah well, Bush's SILENCE re: illegals is deafening, & every year he 'sits on the pot', another MILLION invade us.
