CALGARY, Alberta, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- An Australian fertility clinic is advertising for Canadian sperm donors at the University of Calgary, Alberta ,in exchange for a trip down under.
The New South Wales clinic reportedly can't find enough donors in Australia, so is offering a two-week, all-expense paid trip to Australia for those that pass pre-screening blood tests.
The Albury Reproductive Medicine Clinic blames the shortage on a recent Australian law compelling donors to disclose their names. Previously, they could remain anonymous.
Calgary was chosen because an employee grew up in the city, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said. Ruth Keat, program manager at the clinic, says they've had 15 responses so far, and that once in Australia, "it's a straightforward process, but it will take them a bit of effort and time."
Donors will also have to be willing to be identified in confidential records as the donor, but would have no legal responsibilities for any chidren.

Apart from a number of Third -world nations, it is rare to see a nation endeavor to commit suicide on a such a massive scale...

Sounds to me like somebody is trying to have a family reunion and charge it off to the company.

Donors will also have to be willing to be identified in confidential records as the donor, but would have no legal responsibilities for any children. Since no legal provision or hold-harmless contract in English remains valid anywhere in the world, why should anyone believe it?

Wouldn't it be cheaper to transport just the "donation" from Canada to Australia instead of the whole "donor"???
To: AxelPaulsenJr
Australia must be very lacking in manhood if they want sperm from Canada of all places!

Donors will also have to be willing to be identified in confidential records as the donor, but would have no legal responsibilities for any chidren.[sic]
The doubts over this assertion is why there has been a decline in native donors down under. It is only a matter of time when a donor's offspring with sue to find the identity of the 'real' father [you know, the one who wasn't there to raise you].
The only donors left in such a scenario would be those who don't care if that happens -- not a prime donor group.

They'll be in trouble though- Canada just passed a law banning the sale of such "donations".
