contradicts accounts from former Clinton administration officials I find this interesting. Here Clinton's leftovers are out yet again pontificating their "wisdom." I heard that "they" said last night that Iraqi courts did not have the experience to run SH's trial. While these people have been around during the Bush presidency trying to nibble at the edges of the Bush credibility, they seem to have emerged from their holes to dampen the effects of Saddam's capture. Yet, I haven't seen a one of them interviewed. I just keep hearing news people say that "former Clinton officials say . . ." with no names or attributes. I find that unprofessional and disturbing.

The new information contradicts accounts from former Clinton administration officials who said on Sunday that the Iraqi dictator was likely too isolated to direct continuing attacks on U.S. GIs. That would be the SAME administration that couldn't be bothered when bin Laden was offered on a silver platter.

The Dems want more terror attacks and ship loads of body bags sailing into port with wall-to-wall media coverage of the bodies of our service men and women being disembarked with weeping spouses and children in close up on the nightly news.
I believe that, and nothing in their rhetoric or behavior indicates otherwise.

The new information contradicts accounts from former Clinton administration officials Sheesh, when will the liberal media give us a break from these former klintoon officials, the same ones who let OBL go and let terrorism grow like a cancer right up to 9-11.

The MSNBC article on which this NewsMax item is based is here:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3717232/ It is illuminating to read to see how much negative spin can be placed on such positive news.

I wish they would all just shut their piehole on what kind of intelligence they found with Saddam for at least a week or more so they can act on ALL of the info in that briefcase.
Or might it be just disinfo to get them running from their holes...?
To: txradioguy
The issue is not whether someone is a POW, but whether that someone would be entitled to the protections of the Geneva Convention.

It is impossible to know how much of this is actually accurate and how much is disinformation, primarily targeted at the enemy though also for US domestic consumption. I tend to assume a high % of the latter, as it is the rule in war.

Ok I get it now. I understand what's being said.
As someone who (except for the last two weeks of leave) has been in Baghdad, I can tell all of you that the capture of Saddam will help us over there more than anything you'll hear in news reports. The majority of the people were too afraid to help us and work with us because of their fear of Saddam returning and extracting retrobution on those who helped coalition forces. IMHO, after a short time I think you'll see the Iraq finally emerge that the president has been talking about for months now.

In fact, I'm sure you're right!
Make sure when you go back you let your buds know how much we support them, and how proud we all are of the wonderful work they're doing.

- Judy Woodruff
- Andrea Mitchell
- Wolf Blitzer
- Tim Russert
- Paula Zahn
- Katie Couric
- Matt Lauer
- Michael Moore

Anybody who can be proved to be working with the enemy can be a POW. There's an assassination rule that works the other way around though: anybody in uniform during a war is a valid target and immune to our rule against assassination. There's some theories that having that rule explained to him is why Saddam switched from uniforms to suits just prior to Gulf War 1.
