howard Dean is done for sure now, maybe this is another Clinton ploy.

Nope. This is Gore announcing, finally, that he is at war with the Clintons.

No, it'll be Bob Graham. Dean has already said it will be someone with DC experience who shares his views. Breaux doesn't fit that mold at all.

But here's one more wrinkle. Pundits have been talking about a possible Goldwater effect that Dean may recreate on the left. Dem Activists are just uninterested in centrism. But enough anger turns into a movement with legs. Gore wants to ride that wave. Like Goldwater, Dean will fade with his bona fides dangling in the moonlight.

(ED MACMAHON VOICE): YOU ARE CORRECT SIR!

You should see all my young coworkers getting in a tizzy about Dean. He is every Whole Foods/Starbucks employee's wet dream.

Dean has already said [his running mate] will be someone with DC experience who shares his views. Breaux doesn't fit that mold at all.

The truth of that statement and a dollar won't buy a pin. It was a throwaway to appease supporters. Once Dean wins the nomination, political strategery will come into play, and Dean will most assuredly name someone with a real chance to pull in the South - regardless of how well his views jibe with the Doctor's.

not sure how to read this one. what does Gore have to gain by backing someone who will most likely lose the election? Dean was going to win the nomination anyway, why wouldn't Gore just lay back, let it all implode, and then come right out after the 2004 election as the "co-front-runner" for the 2008 nomination against Hillary. What does Gore say now? "I lost in 2000, I backed a huge loser in 2004, so nominate me for 2008". It just doesn't jive.

One interesting thing. I saw some video footage of Gore today shot from a high angle looking down on Gore. WOW! Algore appears to have a bigtime COMBOVER. Almost bald on the top of his head with only slight coverage from the combover. You don't see just how bald Algore is becoming from the regular camera angles.

Will Sy Sperling have a new customer soon?

From MSNBC's story on it:
Another rival candidate, Wesley Clark, the retired Army general, played down the impact of the endorsement. “No kidding — I think it’s wonderful,” he told MSNBC’s Marisa Buchanan.
What a curious response, don't you think, from a supposed adversary?

when the NYC folks I know starting swooning like this, I tell them that if a Dem is elected, whether it be 2004 or 2008, I am moving out of NY, because the city will likely be nuked within 10 years under their leadership. I say it very calmly and cooly, they just stare and don't make a sound.

perhaps there was some principle involved with that, you cannot possibly be suggesting that Gore is acting in that manner?

I believe several national polls show Kerry would run closer to Bush then Dean. Of course, that has nothing to do with winning the nomination.

If anyone fits the mold as an outsider, fit to be the VP for Dean, it's none other than...

Sean Penn

Nixon backed Goldwater in '64 because he (Nixon) was shrewd. Gore backs Dean because he (Gore) is shrewd.

Principles, schminciples.

My nabe is the ONLY one I see in Brooklyn with "we support our troops and President Bush" signs, despite a large "Moose-limb" population nearby.

Rockefeller also tacitly supported Nixon in 1968, as he saw Dick as a "moderating force" against AUH2O's "extremeism.
