Lieberman spokesman Jano Cabrera said Gore did not tell the Connecticut senator about the endorsement.

Brit just said that Carl Cameron just confirmed that Lieberman found out through the media.

If those who think this is orchestrated are correct (and I am seriously considering that possibility), this could have been designed to keep up the picture of inner party squabbling and bad blood.

Otherwise Gore really is the rude boob we've come to know and loathe. (And to think I kind of liked the guy back in the eighties.)

Thats another angle from which I was looking at. Basically Dean and Gore are stoking the fires that burn under the vicious, angry, bitter base of Dem voters with this move. So, when you step back to survey the entire picture, it doesn't change much.

Does John Breaux become any part of this equation now? He could now resign from the Senate, have a democrat appointed to replace him, become the VP nominee to bring in the South and moderate democrats, then if defeated go on with his plans of consulting... Wasn't he supposed to make some decision/announcement by mid Dec.?

Funny you should mention myopic. I got banned because I questioned someone who made the standard "Bush stole the election" rant. I merely asked them what, exactly, Bush did to steal the election, pointing out that many organizations went into Florida afterward and every count showed Bush the winner. All I got was a lot of "shut the f#%k up"s and similar intelligent responses.

I actually had been wanting to ask that question for a while because I'm really interested in how the left justifies their "stolen election" idea. But there is no thought process, just repeating a rant. They really, honestly don't have a clue.

Yeah, whatever is going on behind the scenes, it doesn't give off the vibes of unorchestrated backstabbery. There would be far more of the element of chaos in the air instead of the feeling of loose ends being tied up. That said, I still think there is a battle over DNC control. They are just being smart about the way they wage it.

Yes, and then Stuff Happened, like 9/11, Afghanistan and Iraq. If Dean had ended up running on a HillaryCare II platform, he'd probably be one of the dorks making up the rear of the pack like Edwards and Kucinich. Instead he got lucky, and was able to reinvent himself as the candidate for the pro-Saddam, venomous Bush-hate wing of the Democratic Party ... who are the only ones worked up enough at the moment to even be paying attention. I find it hard to believe Dean would ever have made it this far if it weren't for the Iraq war.

Interesting theory. It is indeed clear to me that the Clintons want to set-up Howie for the nomination and then a shellacking in November, setting up Hildebeast in 2008. However, would Algore be on board with this?

It appears clear to me that at this point, the Clintons and Gore see President Bush as unbeatable in 2004; Hence, either tacitly or overtly, they will support Dean's nomination and look forward to seeing him go down in flames. The real question I have is what is Al Gore's angle in endorsing Dean at this point? Is he endorsing Dean because he harbors his own ambitions to take on Hildebeast in 2008? Is this payback to the Clintons and McAuliffe out of spite? Or is this part of a coordinated conspiracy with the Clintons to annoint Dean and help Hildebeast in '08?
