LEXINGTON, Kentucky -- A retired Roman Catholic priest who admitted molesting three altar boys in 1995 was found beaten to death at his home, police said Saturday.
Joseph Pilger, 78, was found dead in his home Friday night. An autopsy Saturday found the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Fayette County coroner. The death is being investigated as a homicide.
Pilger lived alone until the past month, when a young man began staying with him, said his neighbor, Karen Owens. Owens said Pilger's car, which had been at his home earlier in the day, was missing Friday night.
Pilger pleaded guilty to sexual abuse in 1995 for abusing three altar boys in 1968 and 1969, when he was their pastor in Morganfield in western Kentucky. He was sentenced to five years' probation beginning in January 1995.
Earlier this year, Pilger was named in a sex-abuse lawsuit against the dioceses of Lexington and Covington. Pilger declined to comment on the allegation.

Sounds like he was beaten and robbed by a live-in boyfriend.
When Hamlet confronted his mother Gertrude the ghost of his father told him, "Leave her to heaven." I guess that's what I'd say about this.

From Wave 3.com
(LEXINGTON, Ky., December 6th, 2003, 6 p.m.) -- Police were investigating the murder of a 78-year-old man found dead in his home Friday night.
Fayette County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve McCrown pronounced Joseph Pilger dead around 7 p.m. An autopsy found the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries, McCrown said.
Pilger, a 78-year-old convicted sex offender and retired catholic priest, was found murdered inside his Lexington home. Pilger pleaded guilty in the early 90s to sexually abusing five boys he met through the church while working in the western part of the state. That abuse happened in the 1960s.
Neighbors say Pilger had a young man living with him for the last month, but that man's whereabouts now are not known. Pilger's car is also missing.
The police are looking for a suspect.

Funny that the ACLU and those sorts are not in their supporting the rights of pedarists to live in peace.

**Joseph Pilger, 78, was found dead in his home Friday night.**
So will charges be filed against those who took his life? I hope so.
Prayers for this priest and all those who have sinned so grievously or are undergoing scrutiny, and for those who are or have suffered persecution.

It doesn't hurt my feelings to read about it. The only thing that bothers me is that it doesn't happen more frequently.

**Guess he reaped what he sowed.** Well, I did say that I "guess". It's possible that the man fully repented of his sin. However, it is much more likely that he reaped what he sowed.

So will charges be filed against those who took his life? I hope so. I am torn either way. On one hand, earthly justice was metted out and I'm sure he'll get his just desserts at the Judgement Seat as well. One part of me would say let it go and don't worry about it. I would assume that he was killed for his crimes by a vengeful person or persons.
The other part of me says, hey, what he did was not right but what the killers did was no better and they need to be sought out and made to pay for their crimes as well.
With so many people getting away with so much these days, things may continue to deteriorate until mob justice prevails.

Possbily the young man living with the 78 year-old. Old habits die hard, or something like that.

re your #8.
I find it repugnant that someone beat a 78 year old man to death.
I also find your second statement equally repugnant.
"Prayers for this priest and all those who have sinned so grievously or are undergoing scrutiny, and for those who are or have suffered persecution."
Are you asking for prayers for pedaphiles, priest or not, who have "suffered persecution" by the laws of our society?
Did you mean prosecution?
What, exactly, do you mean?
