I stopped on c-span because they were showing a news story about a army platoon in Iraq that were chosen to execute a mission inside Iraq before the main thrust (digging down the huge sand hills so they are passable). While a soldier with a video camera, w/night-vision, looked on, one of the other soldiers planted an American flag on top of the berm. They played sound-bites of the surrounding soldiers thoughts at the time. Things like, "I was so proud to be over here and proud to serve my country" and "I've never been so proud to be an American". Then it showed Humvee running over the spot dug out directly passing the flag planted at the top. One after the other, vehicles passed by giving thumbs-up to the flag. The whole story made me so proud.

The story ended though with the news that the soldier that planted that flag on the berm was later shot in the head while waiting in a line in Baghdad.

The news story ended and that's when I realized they were showing it at this Dem convention. The c-span camera was looking at the crowd when the story went off, and they all looked as stunned and confused as I was, along with only a smattering of applause.

I don't get them people.

Didja see the tattooed bald head guy last night on C-SPAN with Pres Bush at Home Depot (Baltimore area)? It was hillarious! Apparently a Home Despot employee (Lowes certainly wouldn't hire him!) - had crazy colorful tattoos and names/words ALL OVER his shaved head... and a goatee to boot - kinda scary looking. He was constantly in the camera audience shots with President Bush.

Afterwards, everyone was posing next to the president for pictures as he walked around the crowd. Dubya saw the guy coming and started chuckling. The guy posed right next to the president for photos. Man do I sure wish I had a camera card in my PC to screen capture that! Gotta give C-Spam credit for letting me see this.

(But PHEW! The Secret Service must've been on pins 'n needles the whole time.)

The other night I was flippin' through the channels and saw Gephardt's daughter, Chrissy, on C-SPAN. C-SPAN actually went to the home of some North Eastern family and conducted an interview where Chrissy entertained the questions of 15-20 guest and stumped for her father.

It was uncanny how much her features and mannerisms are exactly just like her fathers. It was like watching a younger female version of her father, whom by the way resembles the '80s story telling stuffed bear, Teddy Ruxpin.

I spent several minutes searching for a link to the C-SPAN footage but without success. I thought I'd link to this ABCNews story instead so that you could be the judge on whether or not she resembles her dad.

I haven't watched C-Span in over ten years. Once they made their phone lines affirmative action quota'd, there wasn't any use.

And I still remember them running scrambled gibberish of a Jesse Helms rally for a half hour followed by a live, full blown, three hour Harvey Gant fest during the 1990 NC Senate race. I'm surprised it took people this long to catch on to them.
