Forget about the mob - the big money in New York's criminal underworld is going to Russian fraudsters who've turned auto-insurance scams into a $500 million monopoly.

FBI agents Kevin O'Grady and Jack Campanella revealed to The Post the results of a three-year undercover investigation that smashed eight Russian fraud rings in New York City.

Oh no, not more Russian-led criminality (/sarcasm). This ripoff is outrageous b/c these so-called Russian "refugees" seek political asylum using US immigration laws under false pretenses. The activities of these ruthless crooks are doubly disturbing since the Russian emigrees arrive in the US under very auspicious circumstances.

They are treated like royalty, get tax-subsidized government grants, tax-subsidized housing, and have job set-asides waiting for them......jobs that are taken from taxpaying born-Americans. A TV news segment showed one of these young Russian freeloaders, who was a trained engineer, picking up welfare checks and food stamps while his wife was dolled up in an expensive fur, lolling around getting her hair done courtesy of US taxpayers.

It is an outrage that taxpayers are subsidizing this criminal element's entre into America, and are footing the bill to enable their crooked activities. These cons are politically savvy and their politics are corrupt and quite Byzantine. We should be very concerned about their American presence which is concentrated in New York......in a place nicknamed Little Odessa.

One Ukranian thief Lauer looted and ripped-off working class American pensioneers, and others, then absconded when it came time to pay for his crimes.

Russian-born criminals in America are the worst....identity fraud, insurance ripoff scams, faked auto accident frauds, tax evasion schemes, etc, etc, etc. Some of 'em got nabbed a few years back holding big jobs in the Bank of NY which they used to launder funny money. They are ruthless, sleazy, unprincipled but highly politically-connected cons with several New York-based "organizations" that help them get into the US and show them how to get on the gravy train. I guess they figure out how to pillage insurance companies and the like by themselves (/sarcasm).

Gee whiz, now the Russian criminal hordes will have to kill me for spilling the dirt on them. Gosh, I'm so scared (yawn).

Golly, I wonder if suburban New York resident George Soros knows about Russian organized crime in his neighborhood (/sarcasm)?

Ironic that Soros opened a branch of his (gag) do-gooder, utopian "Open Society" group in Moscow in 1987 with the supposed aim of helping the Soviet Union make the transition to democracy. Soros's group has supposedly been active in trying to bolster civil society and the rule of law in the former Soviet Union.

Hey, maybe ol' George'll open a branch of "Open Society" here, to help bolster New York civil society, and the US rule of law, and to help wean former immigrant Soviet Union crooks from rippng Americans off bigtime.

Five will get you ten that the Soros hedge fund is now playing games in the oil market. In May 2003 Soros bragged that he would set up a watchdog group to guard against abuses in how the USA manages Iraqi oil. Given what is occuring in Russia, and Soros's ties to the Russian oil barons, somebody had better set up a watchdog group to guard against abuses that occur with the production and shipping of Russian oil.

Would be interesting to know who Soros' accomplices are, eh? Maybe arch-villain and global trader Marc Rich (who was charged for selling oil to Iran, and as the biggest tax cheat in US history, then renounced his American citizenship and fled the US to escape prosecution) who bought a pardon from the conniving Clintons.

I doubt the Russians invented this scam. Here in Massachusetts we have various immigrant groups -- from El Salvador, Haiti, the Domenican Republic, etc. -- who have made cities like Lowell, Massachusetts the insurance fraud capital of the United States. Part of the problem is that the insurance companies often do not go after the fraudsters because they can simply raise their rates at least enough to cover the payouts and because the district attorneys tend only to prosecute when someone is killed AND because the so-called police up here simply turn loose people involved in fraudulent crashes even when they are illegal aliens!

I think it's time for the people of Massachusetts (and New York and other areas where such fraudulent crashes occur) to tell the elected officials to do something about it or be thrown out of office. (Yes, I know, the is the People's Republic of Massachusetts, a one party state, which makes it highly unlikely that anyone other than the Party's anointed will be elected, but...)

Pressure point--go after the fraud doctors/physicians FIRST. They are the easiest to expose and shut down--

Once there's no MD (or chiro) to sign the charts, the whole scam breaks down.

This really wouldn't be costly or difficult.

This is what we get when we let any types just move into the USA --- they don't care about this country anymore than they cared about their own.

Thanks. George Soros was born in Budapest, Hungary on August 12, 1930. That then makes him 73 years of age. I also have discovered that Jimmy Carter is 79.

To me it is unreal that these men are now at an age where their ideas could and should be questioned due to the onset of old age. From Dan Rather to Cronkite there are way too many old white guys who refuse to fade away.Bill Clinton is, I am quite sure, looking for a long run on the world stage, especially when they are dissed, like Carter, by their own countries.

We know that Soros can count on Peter Lewis and John Sperling to be willing co-conspirators. He can usually persuade Warren Buffet to go along with him, too.

Peter Lewis, as you probably know, is the chairman of the Progressive car insurance company. I wonder how many of Progressive's claims are disputed when they are dealing with Russian-immigrant orchestrated "accidents."

Then there is his good-buddies, Mort Halpern, John D. Podesta, Jeremy Rosner, Robert Boorstin and Carl Pope who have all hung out at his Long Island Residence for private little "think tanks".

Of course he supports Steve Rosenthal and Ellen Malcolm, his puppets who are running ACT (America Coming Together) and to whom he pledged $10 million. His friends also pledged money to ACT: Robert Glaser, of RealNetworks, $2 million; Robert McKay, on behalf of the McKay Family Foundation, $1 million; and Lewis and Dorothy B. Cullman gave $500,000.

No one has any doubts about his connections to Russian Oil Magnate Khodorkovsky.

Some may know of his joint venture involvement in Mustcom. He is aligned with Vladimir Potanin of Uneximbank; Boris Jordan of Renaissance Capital; Nicholas Jordan, Boris' brother of Deustche Bank's Russian Division of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, and the Morgan Stanley Investment Group.

Part of the problem is that the insurance companies often do not go after the fraudsters because they can simply raise their rates at least enough to cover the payouts Insurance has, in essence, become a privatized system of taxation on private property owners. Theoretically, privatization should keep the rates under control, but because of rampant fraud and the size of the involved companies, the industry has become the mirror of any other government bureaucracy.

Actually, I think that a lot of insurance companies require verification by their own doctor. I remember trying to collect on one of those accident policies for my husband and the insurance company gave us such a run around that one would have thought that they had never had to pay out before.

Soros has had his fingers everywere in Russia, working with and against the so-called "oligarchs" who control Russian industry. He, the recently discredited Berezovsky and the oligarchs were in competition for control of Svayzinvest, Uneximbank, Novolipetsk Metallergical, and, reportedly all want a major stake in Russian oil.

Putin, apparently reacting to the anti-semitism rampant in Russia, has moved first against Berezovsky. The oligarchs (all of whom are Jews and some of whom no longer live in Russia) will probably be picked off one by one, and even Soros will lose his stake in Russia. In the meantime, however, look for much mischief in the Russian oil market.
