There was a big stink about females in the RSTA Squadron last year. First they let them in, then they took them out.

"An american solider(female) was raped in garrison"
This, sadly, is the result of the militaries social engineering experiment that began some time ago. It was a bad idea then, it's a bad idea now.

Yes, if I recall, they were going to open slots for females in the UAV PLT and maybe the SQDN HQ...then, they decided to take them out again since they might be on the "front lines". No such thiing as a "linear" battlefield anymore.

You are PC confused to say the least.

Every Marine a rifleman. The Chief of Staff of the Army has recently mouthed that philosophy as well. You say women should not be in front-line positions. What rear area is safe? The whole concept of a front and a rear has been overtaken by events.

The frontline is bloody damn dangerous. The rear is far less dangerous by a huge factor.

snodog,
This is a no win situation. Some people on this board are so caught up in their belief that women should not be in the military that they find it perfectly okay that a female soldier was sexually assaulted. Sickening!

Women do not belong in combat units. There aren't enough men volunteering to take their place, so either the unit deploys short-staffed or it is made up of those available to join it.

. . . they find it perfectly okay that a female soldier was sexually assaulted. That is a cheap shot and I suspect you know it. Show me a post on this thread where someone, anyone, believes that.

Why did she venture outside the security zone? How did she get a pass?

...not to mention snoopin' low & slow. I thank the Big Ranger in the Sky that Rangers will NEVER
be 'PC'.
And by the way, I am still saddened to see AirBorne training wussed out with the pc intro of wings to split tails.

"It's sad," said Staff Sgt. Theresa Spicer, a supply sergeant with the brigade headquarters. "You can't trust your own people." The camp at Udairi also includes about 2,000 troops who are not part of the Stryker brigade and maintain the camp. There are also several hundred civilian contract employees.I wonder if she knows it was "one of our own", or is just assuming.

Ditto! (and I'll take your's and the opinion of your ping list over the armchair generals here)
