I hear ya man (and thanks for serving, by the way) - My humour, on the rare occasion, tends to be morbid and dark, but I try not to do that too often because normal people don't often understand and get reaaaaal offended ;0)

The closer we get to these guys, the more they must be hating it. By taking out those closest to them, we are succeeding in that mission. Either Saddam will turn up because he can't stand being in hiding anymore, or whether he turns up because he eats a bullet, doesn't really matter. He'll turn up. And I can't wait to see what happens when he does.

And IF we were allowed to effectively question him, we might have Saddam tomorrow. It should be SOP that all interrogations are conducted by the Kurds.

"He'll turn up. And I can't wait to see what happens when he does."

When that day gets here, the liberals/socialists will be carpping on about (1) how long it took to get him, (2) how badly we had mistreated him, (3) how he was never given a "fair" deal to begin with and (4) just how much tolerence we need to show him after his humiliating defeat at the hands of the mean old United States military.

Put this in the bank and start drawing interest on it.

I don't get why it is trumpeted. Big deal if we captured a bodyguard, if they don't know where Saddam is why is it trumpeted as a big story? Finding Saddam is a big story.

Sorry to hear you don't get it. More's the pity.

I've explained why it's a big deal and so have others.

I'm not saying that.

Yeah. Defending tyrants is their stock in trade - at least, when Republicans are president...

Sure sounded like it. But, look at it from another angle - We capture this guy, make a big deal out of it so as to make sure Saddam hears about it. Further demoralizing him as he realizes how close we are getting... for a man on the run, that's gotta suck.

Think of it as mind games ;0)

HOOAH!

LOL, I figured you would find your way into an 82nd thread. Don't forget, however, it was probably the Air Force that got them all there in the first place.

Later dude.

Wbo cares about bodyguards? Probably he is just some career law enforcement person with no more personal involvement in the Saddam regime than a Secret Service agent would have in the administration of a US president.

You're right. We should ignore those who were close to Saddam. After all, they are just family men like you and me.

What are you, nuts?

Okay, okay. If it makes you feel any better, catching a bodyguard was a great victory.

What makes me feel better is watching the naysayers try to spin every victory as a nothing moment, and every setback as the end of the world. It is fun to watch, actually.

(My husband was with the 82nd Airborne in the '60's. You want to get a job done right --- Call in the 82nd!)

HOOAH!

Maybe not. 1/16 Infantry was a leg outfit, part of the First Infantry, last time I noticed, though they may be under the operational control of the 82nd during the present activities.

AR RAMADI, Iraq – Elements of the 82nd Airborne Division successfully raided a house north of Ar Ramadi as part of ongoing operations in the area to capture individuals involved in anti-coalition activities.

Elements of the 1st Battalion, 16th Mechanized Infantry Regiment....

You'll get no argument about that from me, but in this case, it appears it was First Infantry troopers working for the the 82nd.

Ask your husband if he recalls any of the guys from Operation Power Pack, *in the '60's* or was in on it himself. Classic Airborne job.
