I'm no psychic but I 'went out on a limb' and boldly predicted on this forum that we would defeat Saddam. Some experts went out on a limb the other way. Hackworth called for Rumsfeld's resignation the day before it was obvious we would win. I had an inside scoop, you see. People were certain decades ago that the United Nations would have the power to drag anyone it wanted, anyone on earth, off to trial at a world court. Christians were certain that the Bible would be spread throughout the world, and now we see it is very possible through the internet, word-for-word. Others were certain that the Europeans would re-unite in a new empire much like Rome. Most conservatives were certain that Johnson's 'war against poverty' would be a disaster.
How did we know all these things? God's Word, found in the Bible. How did we accurately predict that there will be no lasting peace until Jesus returns? How can we be certain that the Euphrates River will one day dry up? How do we know that Bagdhad or a city very near it will be the 'Sin City' Capitol of the World and that fundamentalist Islam is doomed to fail there? [Why I predicted we would win.] How did people accurately predict that China would become a major land power, with 200 million soldiers?
I have some old photocopies in a three ring binder. Those old, faded photocopies were given to me in 1985. I cherish those sheets of paper. Not a year passes that I don't refer to them. They came from a newsletter, "The Last Days", Volume 8. At least, that's what I penned on the first sheet. They convinced me that the Bible is not just any other book. Any prediction you find in the Bible will come true. .And if the Bible is no ordinary book, then God is no ordinary being, it stands to reason.
Some people take one small part of the Bible and claim that disproves God. It's not that simple. One part of the Bible might seem to be mysterious, but a century from now, it could be cleared up.
For example, here are some unusual, mysterious verses.
Job 26.7: He stretches out the north over the void, and hangs the earth upon nothing. Was that a prediction of Outer Space? It sounds like it to me.
Daniel 12.4 was a prediction of a marked increase in travel and knowledge.
Romans 1. 26-27, some say those verses predicted AIDS, although many other ailments are transmuted through homosexuality and permiscuity.
Habakuk 3.7, a prediction of affliction in Ethiopia.
II Peter 3.3: In the last days there will arise scoffers, walking after their own lusts.
II Peter 3.10-12, a prediction that the surface of the earth would dissolve from intense heat.
Those last three verses were used back in the 1800s to 'prove' that the Bible must be incorrect. Intellectuals at the time said, "We all know that's impossible, don't we?" They declared the Bible dead because of Peter 3.10-12. If someone seems to prove that the Bible is a lie, and you feel doubt, remember that! Those old photocopies covered that one in-depth:

Prior to that, intellectuals in previous centuries claimed that bread falling from the sky was impossible. Wrong. They claimed that the Bible must be a fairy tale because there is no way a bush could have flames rise up from it without being damaged. Wrong. They claimed that the Red Sea would never part. Impossible they said. Wrong again. All of those things were, in time, proven scientifically, but many of the doubters of those previous generations became atheists because they obsessed over a single mystery here or a single 'impossibility' there.
Or how about this prediction?
Isa.34.4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
If you look at a scroll rolling up from the side view, you see a circle shrinking in on itself. It looks exactly the same way a ball of stars gavitating inwards would look.
There are 3,856 references to prophesies in the Bible, none of which were ever disproven. In fact, according to those old photocopy sheets, 5 out of 6 prophesies were proven to be correct already. The remaining 1out of 6, according to those old sheets, are yet to be fulfilled. There is no mortal being who has ever made so many accurate predictions without some special trick, and without Divine Guidance. No religion on earth has such a long history of accurate predictions, spanning back thousands of years. The only religion close to Christianity in that respect is the Jewish faith, and both faiths overlap, essentially confirming one another in many ways.
We need not stop with the Bible, however. There was Joan of Arc, who's amazing achievements must make one wonder. There is the Virgin Mary. When one studies Fatima and all the other amazing things that happen around people devoted to Mary, one must conclude that either Mary visits in the name of God, or that there is some kind of 'deceptive supernatural activity'.
I single out Fatima because there were thousands of eye witnesses to a sign, and because a shepherd girl predicted the rise of the Soviet Empire.

One thing to keep in mind, the Virgin Mother comes before trouble. I like to think that she comes to give heart to people before difficult times. She was seen recently in California and in Egypt. Prior to Clinton's Kosovo bombing raid, she was seen in Yugoslavia.
Then there was Eva Hart's mother. The Hart family was planning on going on the Titanic's maiden voyage. But Eva Hart's mother said it was an insult to God to call a ship 'unsinkable' and she said that anyone who boards her would be punished. She did not want to go. But, after a heated argument, the father insisted. So they went. Eva Hart's mother never slept at night during that voyage. She was awake and alert when the ship crashed into an ice berg-- at night. Eva and her mother were put on a life boat. Her father remained. Just before the ship sank, Eva's father called out, "Eva Hart, you behave now! Be a good girl!" That was the last time she heard her father.
Evil might be alive and well, but so is God. Our nation is putting its back to God, but we can keep God in our hearts, and in our homes. Tomorrow, we will celebrate Thanksgiving. I'll drop bye the forum and make what might be a brief op-ed.
